I think it depends on what resistance your build is. I run duals at .5 ohms on all my reo's, and they will arc if I don't put deoxit on the positive battery terminal. I put just a little bit on with the pen every battery change and check for sparks on the first button push. If it does, I rotate the battery while pushing the button till it stops.

It provides a preventative coating for contacts, so the idea is to use it before there's an issue - g'head and apply some now (just maybe give your firing pin a quick clean first to remove whatever might be on it - same for the spring if you plan on putting some there).

Note that it's usually recommended for those using lower (sub)ohm builds, but it wouldn't do any harm to use some no matter your setup.

I'm paranoid about my contacts. On all three of my Reos, I've taken the springs out, and sanded the paint off under the area where the springs sit. Every once in a while, I remove the springs, and use the pen on the area. I also try to put the pen in the screw hole, to put some of the Deoxit on the threads. I put a little on the top contact every one or two battery changes.

I will say that I've had zero issues with arcing or pitting, since switching to button top batteries, instead of the VTC5s. My builds are always ~.5 ohms.

Here's a vid. I put it on my brand new mod before I used it and then about once a month for batteries and contacts. :)

REO & Battery MAINTENANCE - YouTube

Lately I don't have the "Like" feature on my Youtube so I'm giving you a like here. Nice video and I had no idea about cleaning the Reo. I have Noalox around and assume it can be used like the Deoxit.

Thank you. Yes Noalox does the same thing as deoxit it's just much more messy.

I use high ohm coils and recently bought a bottle of Noalox, I use the thinnest smear I can on the battery terminals. I'm sure it has made my Reos' performance more consistent, even with the new contacts. I wish I had bought a bottle when I got my first Reo, I didn't get along very well with those plastic baggies, digging around in grey poop with a toothpick didn't do it for me :)

They both can stop arcing and oxidation but do it very differently.

Noalox is used to keep aluminum conduit and carriers from oxidizing.

Deoxit gold is designed to molecularly bond with the contact to protect it, enhance conductivity, reduce arcing and RFI.

Deoxit is a better choice, Is it worth the price premium? That is up to each person to decide. Is Noalox good enough, yes it is. But then I'm not vaping a Reo with gold plated beryllium copper contacts because it's good enough.

I don't use either on any of my PV's, never have... I rely on a good regular cleaning regime instead with alcohol and/or soap and water depending on the PV. And I use Cape Cod Cleaning Cloths on my tube modes. ProVape sent me a fair sized tube of Noalox when I bought 5 of them in one month... its probably around here someplace, still unused. Rob included a little of what I assume is the same with my 2 new Reo's... but they both came open during their trips here and had made a mess inside the plastic bags.
