Yes it could. There are MOAI's in cigarettes. Nicotine itself is a stimulant and the retention of it in vaping can help you to feel (nearly) as energized as before. You may want to check out "WTA" e-juice from Aroma e-juice. Alternatively talk to your doctor about this and see if perhaps an SSRI may be right for you to get through the transition period. I think it's especially difficult for folks going through mid life as the hormonal balance is thrown seriously out of whack to begin with, and this can just compound things. Stay strong however and know that BT puts that stuff INTO cigarettes to make you give up any quit attempt. And do have a chat with the doc. Don't let the arsenic/ammonia sticks win.

That was always my biggest obstacle to quitting. The depressions. I am 6 months now on the ecigs and had some depression and a lot of anxiety and went to see my Dr about it. She gave me a script for something that has helped a lot. She's also really glad I have been using the ecigs.
People don't realize I don't think all that's involved when you quit smoking.

Yup, all the other times I tried to quit depression was really bad. It was there this time but not so bad because of vaping. I think it's kind of like losing a really close friend. I felt like my cigarettes always made me feel better but now I realize what feeling good actually means. I really hope you get to feeling better soon. Please don't give up. :)

I actually didn't experience a depression when I stopped beyond the 3rd day hump. What may have made my circumstances differ is that a huge reason I switched was because I was jogging. The amount of exercise probably amplified my mood in the process. Just something to consider that can and will lift your mood.

Most definately...I can't do SSRIs because I also have anxiety, and SSRIs make me feel crazy, but I make sure I take a vitamin B complex and quality fish oil (at least a gram a day of omega 3s). That helps a lot with my depression and anxiety issues. It takes a while for our bodies to adjust to not getting all those chemicals, but just remember it will get better!! Good luck!!

Yes, it happens. When my father quit smoking in the 70s, he went on a short course of antidepressants to get over the hump.

When I started vaping, I wasn't aware of it or expecting it and I had a few (several? it was 4 years ago...) weeks with it really bad. 2 months after switching sounds about right. Got in serious trouble at work for being in such a foul mood, nearly got mandatory time off work after several good talking-tos.

Then I just happened to read about how it's a normal thing to happen to quitters, looked at my e-cig, put two and two together....and my mood immediately improved from seriously depressed to a bit grumpy. Knowing it was a side effect (and temporary) instead of 'a thing' made a world of difference. And then gradually got better.

Yup. Normal! But entirely temporary (thank goodness!).

Best thing you can do for yourself is to take pampering to a whole new level. Lots of stress-relieving activities (I'm partial to long hot baths), exercise as much as you're able and proper nutrition will help to get you over this hump. Your body is in complete upheaval and will take some time to get back to normal. Don't be afraid to reach out here. This is a whole community that is willing to help. :)
