Despite the Health Ministry announcement's this week that it would ban the import of electronic cigarettes, online retailers continued to claim that their products are safe and helpful to smokers looking to quit traditional tobacco products.

i would make one small alteration to the above.. change "safe" to safer.. then it would all be perfectly true..

e cigs do without doubt help folk get off tobacco products.. and i doubt anybody would dispute the "safer" than tobacco angle..

""It's absurd that it's legal to smoke real cigarettes, with the 400 poisonous substances in them, but when it comes to electronic cigarettes, which don't even emit smoke, the Health Ministry says, 'oy, oy, oy, it causes cancer,'" said Dr. Shlomo Koenig, CEO of the importer Avco. "

I'm picturing Jackie Mason saying that quote. It brings back so many memories of growing up in Coral Springs, FL. *sigh* I miss that place...

Exactly. That's what I told my grandmother when I ordered my device recently. As she is one of the "old folks" she has the "That stuff from china is unsafe" mantra. But then I said that it couldn't possibly be worse than what is in real cigs.

Which it isn't technically good for you, I'm sure, it's better than analogs for people who just can't quit cold turkey.
