So an update on this... its been a few weeks and still not resolved... went to see my doctor this morning as the coughing/congestion still isn't cleared up. I thought it was clearing up a couple of times now, but it persistently keeps coming back. I'm not yet back to vaping as a result, snus'ing now instead.

My doc thinks its just bronchitis (a chest cold that last 4 to 6 weeks)... recommended I take MucinexDM (i got the extra strength stuff) and gave me a scripp for an asthma inhaler to help work the congestion out... and if that doesn't do the trick, he also wrote me a scripp for an anti-biotic which I'm to use "if all else fails" by thurs/friday of this week... and if that fails too... then its back to the doc early next week for a chest xray and further diagnostics.

I'm really sorry to hear you are still having problems :( I used to get bronchitis at least once a year and would have to use an inhaler for it too. Knock on wood...I haven't had it in several years. I hope the meds help and nothing more serious is going on!

I remember a post a week ago where a doctors only warning about the only possible thing he could think of that could happen from vaping was to develop pneumonia due to excessive liquid in the lungs.

According to my doctor, who also uses an electronic cig, says that you would have to vape every second of the day. Your body will absorb the little bit of liquid that actually sticks in your lungs. Please remember that you exhale most of what you vape.:2c:

Late last night, while enjoying a round of chain vaping, I started to feel a tickle in my throat. I drank a little soda, which went down the "wrong pipe", and I ended up in an extended coughing fit. Today, the tickle in my throat—way down by my voice box—was still there, along with a nagging, persistent cough and a little chest tightness. I've been vaping pretty heavily for the past month.

Yesterday was officially my first full month off analogs, and it was a day of heavy yard work (reseeding my lawn, applying grub killer, tilling up dead patches of grass, etc.) I can't tell if my current issue is vaping-related, yard work related, seasonal, or bronchitis. I am not prone to colds that much; maybe once a year and usually around Christmas. But I will cut down on the vaping to see if it improves my situation.

God knows I would really prefer NOT to catch pneumonia now that I've finally kicked the smoking habit!

I'm spooked by a coincidence.

A couple of weeks ago, I got whacked with a bacterial bronchitis infection. Just yesterday, my brother got admitted to a hospital with a significant case of pneumonia (strep infection). We both started vaping in 2010. In the past, we generally haven't been plagued with nasty infections like these.

So... i gotta wonder... does vaping somehow make your lungs more susceptible to bacterial infection? Can bacteria live in eliquid and survive being vape?
