i.m having a consistent problem with hotspots developing every day out of know where.i wire up the coil and everything is ok for about a day then out of know here a hotspot develops and turns my juice brown.its wasting alot of juice,i can't vape burnt juice it tastes nasty and leaves my tongue black.i tried kanthal 32 gauge, and nichrome 32 gauge and they both do it.i've tried thin wicks and fat wicks, the fat wicks seem to give me about a day of vape time and the thin wicks the juice turns right away.what is going on every body can't be having this problem they seem to get a couple of weeks out of their coils and wick.i do a dry burn after coiling and there are no shorts or hotspots ,but it always happens about a day or so in.

I'm no expert on ss wicks but I had the same problem and that is why I gave up on them. If your wicks aren't oxidized good enough then your coil can burn through it causing a hot spot. Too slow of wicking can also cause hot spots. Some people have just turned the wick slightly in the coil so the wire is touching a new spot and that sometimes will solve the problem but maybe only temporarily. I'd recommend trying ceramic wicks if you can find them or make your own from Topfin air stone bubbler at Pet Smart. You have to have the right air stone or it won't work. There's a huge thread in the modders section that was started by Scubabatdan where you can learn about ceramic wicks.

Looks like u r on the right track...the question is... do u ever tilt it? Vaping on a genny requires tilting to wick... doesnt matter if u have a ceramic wick or 500 guage ss u still have to tilt it... also ss wick have some break in period... wrapping and avoiding hotspot is not hard u just have to have patience... hope I help out a bit... also once ur airhole aligned on the wick u vape also where the airhole lined up... goodluck!
