I have an original DID. I think Genny atties are the worst thing introduced to the vaping industry. Even if my setups are short, hot spot free, the vapor tastes metallic and gives me a splitting headache.

Dripping from a nice silica rba was the way to go for me.

Sorry Bub, but that is my honest opinion.

i've had the metallic taste before...
your not wrapping your coil right.

from my experience, i would only get that taste if i had a spot where the coil wasnt touching the mesh...
the "loose" coil portion would get hot enough to burn but wouldnt glow red all the time...

not poking fun, just letting ya know that not all hope is lost...

i also feel that nichrome tastes like poo, have you tried kanthal?

Kanthal is all I use. I've wrapped my coils tight, loose, every which way. The SS mesh with coil contact gives me bad headaches. All I can use is silica. It could be from too much exposure from copper, chromium, and arsenic. I used to work at a pressure treating lumber plant when I was younger.

My best results have been from Kanthal coils wrapped so that the wick can just barely be moved up and down without distorting the coils. Otherwise it's a nightmare to work out the shorts (too tight) or get burnt flavor (too loose). I found a jewelers screw driver with the right diameter to make a coil on and then roll the wick until it will fit through it properly. You could also just blow off mesh and use Nextel ceramic rope like BigTex sells. Takes me about 1 minute to make a new setup that is as good as mesh to me without the headaches.

I will give that a try. Thanks Flyer :)

I so wanna try the nextel

it is recommended by everyone who does
makes this easier
loving ss mesh, but many faults

btw
you guys do know you can oxidize your coil wire previously to making a coil
it helps
I like nichrome personally because of the lower ohms per gauge
it does have horrible taste when shorted red hot -- its like the chitterlings smell before cooking
