did I do something wrong?

Just finished my first build on a rda, dual coil, 28 AWG Kanthal, twisted tight, 5 wraps, on 3 mm dowel, .47ohm, both coils burnning good from center out, organic japanese cotton fluffed up nice and fluffy, saturated with my favorite juice, although I did have mixed 40pg-60vg 6mg nic for this build. In my subtank I mix 50/50, 6mg nic. Same battery, IMR 18650, 3.7V, 2500MAH ,35A. Fired a few times without inhale. Then....Tastes like crap!! (Not burnt) Have I over saturated? Tried small air intake high air intake and many inbetween. Any advice will be great.

You know, I didn't think about that, although it doesn't taste burnt, just not good...or right.

Is this your first RDA? When I first got a Kayfun, I discovered that some juices I loved just didn't taste good in it; sometimes the strength and/or quality of the vape changes drastically from one type of vaping thang to another, and a rebuildable often produces such a *clear* flavor, it might not always flatter a so-so juice... even if that juice is great in some other device.

PS: Welcome!

Andria, it is my first RDA, although I have been building single coil on a RBA, wouldn't think it would be that much difference...IDK...gonna keep tryin not near ready b to give up.

I would try a couple more wraps, especially if your using an unregulated mod, plus ive notice with the Japanese cotton, it gets gunked up more the the cotton bacon, (i like the Japanese cotton more) and if your like me a clean your coils buy heating the poop out of them you may gets some residue at the bottom that taste aweful.

Definitely keep at it. I tried several different kinds of builds; I'm a high-resistance vaper, but a kayfun isn't that great with too high resistance. Lately I've been using 1.4Ω-1.6Ω, and I think I've hit a sweet spot. Withj my magma, it's 1.3Ω, and just that small a difference produces a pretty good bit more vapor. With my asthma I can't get too carried away. :D

Hang in there! Once you find that perfect build, it's just amazing. "Smoke? Why the hell would I wanna do that, when I've got THIS?!?!" :D

If it's a brand new RDA, it's also quite possible your flavor is being polluted by remnant "machine oil" from manufacture.
This can be a hassle to get rid of, but this usually works:
1) dissassemble as completely as possible - yes, that means losing your first coil...
2) Soak in hot soapy water - DAWN dish liquid soap. All the parts. Swirl it. Maybe toothbrush the threads...
3) Rinse the hell out of it - don't want to vape soap
4) Additional possible rinse with Vodka or grain alcohol...
5) Final rinse

Reassemble, try again.

Good luck!!

my guess is the coil is flooded; you could leave it upside down for a while to let excess liquid get out, then try it;
would help if you had a regulated mod so you could adjust the voltage.

much easier to learn on an rda and regulated mod than to learn on an rta.
