Ok so, sorry to be posting so much but all this information is quite overwhelming haha. So I just ordered an 808 from elitevaporworks which to my understanding is a 2 piece unit, meaning cartomizer instead of cartridge and atomizer correct ? Can you re-fill cartomizers ? How often can you refill them before you have to replace them ? I'm sorry if these questions seem redundant to some of you, but I just want to make sure I'm understanding so I don't break my new toy ! Also, what does a drip tip do ? Benefits of getting one ? Thanks for all the help, hopefully I will understand all this stuff before my kit gets here lol. ( Im totally confused by the Cartomizer, Atomizer, tank, Cartridge stuff lol )

Hi Bobo and welcome to the forums. Your 808 will have a battery (or a couple of batteries if you bought the starter kit) and some cartomisers. Alternative to a cartomiser is an atomiser. You should be able to refill your catomisers a few times before they start to degrade and produce poor vapour and taste. Best bet to keep them running as long as possible is not to let them dry out.
Drip tips can be added to the end of your cartomisers by removing the little rubber or felt bung. They can make vaping more pleasurable as they are more tactile. They are also used to allow you to drip a couple of drops directly onto an atomiser (not a cartomiser), have a few puffs then drip a couple more. Many people use them because they prefer the flavour they get with this method. Its also good for trying out new flavours before filling a carto.

Atomisers have a wick that feeds down to the coil inside them, and need some kind of tank or other juice feed method, or direct drip as above. Cartomisers have a filler that sits around the coil and holds the juice. Whats more confusing is that you can also get tanks for cartomisers but you wont need to worry about those for your 808

More specifically to mrgiggly's post. You can refill a cartomizer for any amount of time you can generally stand the flavor change. I refill mine roughly 10 times before I toss them. It's a little different for everyone based on your sensitivity to taste. If you're just coming off of analogs it'll take about a month for your taste buds to really come back and you may find you are tossing cartos more often.

You sound a lot like I did when starting out on this adventure. I was so afraid that I would do something wrong and render my new friend unsuable. Fear not! There isn't anything that you have that is really that fragile or requires a degree in quantum mechanics to use properly. It's a battery and a heating device with some liquid in it. As MrGiggly pointed out, keeping the carto saturated is key. Topping it up while you vape becomes habit. After a period of time you'll notice a drop in flavor and vapor production. When you get to that point, simply remove the old carto, fill a new one, discard the old. Simple.

We're using li-on batteries so there are no "memory" issues as with nicads. Vape for the day. Put your battery on your charger and let it charge until the light turns green. Remove it from your charger and it's ready to go. Again, very easy. Please do not leave your batteries on your charger over night.

It's a learning curve of course. I try to think of it as just a different set of rules and routines to learn. We learned to smoke cigarettes, very efficiently, I must say. We can learn to do this as well.

Yeah, you will need a few batteries if you smoke a decent amount. 808s only last 2-4 hours, depending on how heavy you use them. I've got 5, and I don't even use my 808's that much :)
You could also get a bigger and longer lasting 808 threaded device (CigEasy's elite 808, for example. I think Nhaler has a couple as well, and I'm sure there's about 35 other ones out there somewhere). Adapters are also available, so don't be too intimidated by other threadings.

Don't worry, all this stuff is really pretty simple. In a few weeks it will all seem easy.
