So just a quick wtf moment I just had. I just went to the local gas station to grab a pack of cigs for my wife when the clerk (who used to sell me my cigs daily) asked if I was still analog free. I said "sure am, going on 20+ days thanks to my trusty lavatube". She then proceeded to tell me that her doctor said that she would rather her smoke a regular cig because the batteries in ecigs are causing cancer. She says her doctor showed her 27 cases in which ecig users got cancer. I can't believe people like this exist.

I cant imagine a Dr telling this nonsense to someone. I rarely listen to anyone claiming that their information came from a Dr or lawer. Most of the time its just the persons misinformed opinion and/or belief. They know its bs so they name what would be a credible source. With that said...

You should listen to me becuase I admin like 400+ computers. Keyboards arent safe as the paint from the keys wears off on your fingers and causes blood poisoning. Someone called into work sick on a Monday... It was raining. So there you have it. They got sick from typing!

"She" has emotional problems and is trolling you.
Certain people in the world will try to take away others happyness and sense of accomplishment, they do this because it makes them feel as if they have power over you, it stems from a deep seated insecurity.

Had a Dr's appointment today.
I keep him updated on my progress with e-cigs (quit in Feb this year)
He couldn't be more pleased with the results, I used to be sick at least once a month, tonsilitis, strep infections and bronchitis used to be a regular part of life.
Since I have switched to e-cigs (Feb this year) I have not had a single throat or lung infection of any kind, caught a bit of a sinus cold from the kids and it only lasted 3 days.

If I dug around enough I could most likely find 27 people that died of Cancer while using e-cigs but...
One huge important factor being left out is the fact that these examples are likely to be multi pack a day smokers that tried e-cigs as a last ditch effort AFTER they started getting really sick.

Quick food for thought....how many of those now ecig users used to smoke? We know smoking causes cancer. So instead of blaming the previous use of the thing known to cause cancer, they blame the new thing. That's just....silly.

Correlation does not equal causation, but it's an easy logical fallacy to fall into. Happens all the time. Take Tetanus for example. Ask a bunch of people how you get Tetanus, you'll get a lot of "stepping on a rusty nail" replies. It's true, stepping on a rusty nail outside is a really good way to get Tetanus if you're not up to date on your shots. So what can we take from this? That rust causes Tetanus? It's a logical jump that a lot of people make, one that's been perpetuated for decades, it's also COMPLETELY false. Tetanus is a bacteria that grows in dirt. Where do you tend to find rusty nails? Outside, in the dirtyness that comes with being outdoors. Rust had nothing to do with Tetanus, nor do nails. It's just a convenient opening for the bacteria to invade, should you step on a rusty nail....or piece of glass, or manage to get dirty in an open wound through any means.

Anyone can be guilty of making a completely wrong logical jump. I bet a lot of people on here thought that rusty nails caused Tetanus. I wouldn't condemn someone for being misinformed. I'd condemn them for being uninterested or unwilling in finding out the truth, or consider that their reasoning may be flawed.

We take for granted that doctors are a step above the rest of society; that they aren't at risk for making the same logical fallacies that the rest of us are prone to. That's just not true. Doctors are just people, they aren't necessarily smarter than any random guy you could point to on the street. They're just....people, and people, as a general rule, are stupid.

I had no idea that bacteria causes tetanus. Maybe I should get another shot, considering it's been about fifteen years since my last one.

As for doctors and e-cigs, the only one I've seen since I started vaping is my psychiatrist, and she's more worried about the nicotine than cancer. Don't get me wrong, she's quite happy that I'm not smoking analogs anymore, but she'd prefer me to be nicotine-free. It's the same with caffeine. I'm supposed to avoid it if possible, to help prevent panic attacks. The difference is that even a small amount of caffeine will make my heart race and my hands tremble, while I never get that from nicotine. Too much nicotine just gives me a headache. If anything, it seems to relax me. I've lost count of how many times I've fallen asleep with my PV in my hand.

Yes, and if you're around babies at all, get the TDAP instead, that's tetanus and whooping cough. When you get a tetanus shot, if you work your arm around off-and-on over the next few hours, it stops aching sooner.

My Dr. was happiest I am working on quitting smoking (not there yet) but she also said that since there is a risk of dementia in my family (she knows us) that it is better that I do NOT give up nicotine. My gastroenterologist, however, wanted me to vape lower nic in the evenings if I start getting acid reflux again. I told her popcorn fixes that for me (two days later!) but she said, keep it in mind in case, since nicotine relaxes the muscle that prevents reflux, so lower nic is better before lying down.

I have no intention of giving up nicotine or WTA's, my daughter suggested I give up tar. So I'm getting there.

Sounds like someone's gullible.

Hope they don't have your email address, you'll be getting that virus alert chain letter from 1998 about badtimes.exe that will delete your hard drive, demagnetize your credit cards, reprogram all your phone's speed dials to your mother in law's number, scratch your DVDs with subspace harmonics, change your fridge settings so that all your ice cream melts, and replace your shampoo with nair.

Edit: 100th POST GET

My PA, chiropractor, several midwives (including one who wrote me a script for one so I could travel to Canada), dietitian, and acupuncturist all approved and thought it was wonderful that I was able to quit smoking. I didn't vape nic while I was pregnant, but I don't think any of the midwives would have batted an eye if I had a little. They encourage using the nic gum as an alternative to smoking while pregnant.

The one person who objected was the smoking cessation person at the hospital. The dietitian brought me out to talk to her, and show her my setup because she was so impressed by quitting with the ecig- and the cessation specialist gave me the whole "well we don't know what's in them" spiel. Then she handed me a fake cigarette "to help" (what I don't know...I hadn't held anything resembling a cigarette in several months). I work as a chemist, and DIY- I know exactly what's in my juice thank you very much.

Lordy she was a tool.

I think they're bad for her job security- and I actually switched hospitals after that encounter. I don't tolerate "we don't know" from people who are supposed to be educated- and she was a direct employee of the hospital spewing ignorant BS. The nurses at a different hospital gave us their blessing to vape openly through the entire stay when DS was born, and most of them thought it was cool too.
