I decided I wanted an Ego-T today, so I shopped around and found a good price at azsmokefree.com. I ordered the kit (http://www.azsmokefree.com/inc/sdetail/19034) and then started reading about "fake" Ego-Ts... Is this a trusted / known supplier?

I didnt see them listed on joyetech's distributor list and now I think I may have just bought a crappy fake Ego-T.

Help?

My Ego was my first purchase and it was not a joye-tech. It was actually a non branded ego-t. Looked exactly the same as the joye, with out the branding. Granted there are knock offs of everything but most are probably all the same and interchangeable.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure most new products start off as "no names" and get purchased by big vendors to slap on their logos and charge more for the reliable, trusted name. Joyetech, ovale, TW. You pay more knowing your getting the product your looking for and not a knock off. I wouldn't stress it without trying it first.

Sent from my Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch.

In many cases with all manufactured items - each facility has the ability to build X quantity per day, but can only sell Y quantity per day so to maximize there facilities the extras are sold off and are sold as generic brands - even though they are made on the exact same assembly line. This is true with almost any manufactured item - there are also copies made and in many cases it is hard to tell the difference - whether it is a copy or a surplus item that you are buying... The warranty is usually one way to tell, but it is sometimes subsidized by the seller and not the manufacturer...

More places sell clone Ego's then real Joye or Janty ones including plenty of fine trusted vendors. Clones are a well-accepted part of ecigarette choices. Some people prefer certain clones. But you were uninformed that in the ecig world, if you want the original manufacturer's product you need to look for places that state the manufacturer like Joye in their description of the product. If you had wanted to buy a real Ego then what you had to was buy one someplace that called it Joye or Joyetech. You did not do that. In some cases the clones are better than Joye (stronger electronics or more voltage) and in some cases they are not as good with more shoddy construction.

I wouldn't worry about it if it works well. The battery in an eGo is a lithium ion cell connected to a regulator board and a switch. The rest are machined components. One giveaway is to measure the voltage with a voltmeter. If you read 3.4v, it's either an eGo or it uses the same or similar regulator. The eGo 1100mah battery is a 3.7v unregulated device. Either way, if it works, it's good.

Most of my eGo batts have the eGo-T logo and the Joytech symbol on the side with the Joytech symbol etched on the end of the batt. The ones that are logo printed with the supplier name on the rubberized coating don't say eGo or eGo-T anywhere. Do I care? Naw, they have worked well ... two of them for over a year using LR attys.

The ego you purchased is from a Chinese manufacturer. I tried both, a legitimate Joye Ego and the Chinese Ego. Believe it or not the one I got from China actually had a better lifespan and lasted longer after every charge.
I`m pretty sure the real Joy E Go`s are made in China as well. L.O.L.

The Chinese are notorious for selling knock offs. Something like an 'Ego' is certainly made and sold by many different companies. To get a real Ego it must say Joye in the name too.

By the same token there are clones like the Kgo and Vgo that are very similar, and often better then the original.

As an example, I bought several Ego knock off batteries at $8/ piece, from China. That's usually less then half the price of ones sold here, whether they are real Joye batteries or not. They are the older style without the 5 click on/off feature but they have worked flawlessly so far.
