Just received my EVIC VT and started my first nickel build on my mutation x v4. I used 28 gauge ni200 and did about 14 wraps. Came to about .22 ohms on a single coil. I used some Japanese organic cotton. I set the temp for 450 f and the wattage to 35 watts. I got a good amount of vapor and never a dry hit but almost no flavor. I tried it with all different air settings on the mutation x with still the same result. I'm using a coffee cake juice that's an 80/20 which is awesome with the mutation x using kanthal at .3 ohms dual coil at 45 watts.
Not sure if I built the coil wrong but it looked pretty good with good spacing.
Any thoughts?

Thanks
Brian

With my mutation(v2), I'm finding it wants the temp to be around 360F -380F. That's not the actual temp, but the calculated temp by the device. I think the mutation and other RDAs mess up the temp reading (SX Mini). The easy fix is to lower the temp to compensate.

I find that when my temp is too high, it mutes the flavor.

Now, I have heard that the VT reads high, so I'd expect it to compensate somewhat, but Id' still start lower temp- wise.

I tried this and still the same results. I noticed the wattage doesn't reach 20 watts before hitting the temp cutoff. And I do noticed a hotspot on the coil. I must have messed up the build.

I will be trying my new Mutation X v4 tonight or over the weekend. I am tempted to jump right into Ti or maybe NI200 so I will let you know my results. My Lemo 2 has been rock solid with NI200 for a few months now. Dual coils will be a challenge with TC.

First, Op said VT. You cannot compare temps to the SX Mini. VT's run cooler.
Second, if the Calculated Build Matches(or close to) the Mods reading, nothing is getting messed up.

If you have been running Duals and suddenly attempt a Single coil build things are definitely going to be different. If you get the Vapor up to expectations the Flavor will probably suffer.

Best of luck getting it the way you like it.

Don't give up .... it took me a week to get a build that was the way i liked...... It's trial and error, look at it as the early stage when just picked up a role of kanthal and were starting to build your own s***. I stopped at about 0.10-0.14 Ohm BUT with a 2.5 mm id, using it as 220-240ºC is just the way i like it. Once you get it right it is a great experience.
