I started with an ego vision kit 6 months ago, haven't smoked a cigarette since the day my kit arrived. In fact, I still have an unopened pack of cigarettes in my desk drawer that I laugh at every time I open the drawer. It was my intent to use vaping as a means of quitting, I thought I would kind of go between vaping and cigarettes, but the vaping was just fine all by itself.

The ego vision with a 900mah battery and the 5-pack of standard vision clearomizers has served me well for the past 6 months, actually flawlessly. Yesterday, I decided to celebrate my 6 months of no smoking and ordered a Kanger Aero Tank DBC and upped the battery to an eVod Twist 1300mah battery. So, now I can adjust the air and the voltage, play with that a while.

Probably the only time I have found myself vaping like that 'Mythical Beast' WharfRatYellowBaloon refers to above is when I am sitting spending time on my computer or driving, and that is what I did with cigarettes as well. Otherwise, I hit the vape now and then throughout the day, couple hits and I am done. I find it very relaxing, just like I did having a cigarette. The biggest difference is I am not hitting the vape as much as I did cigarettes, and I have done myself a favor getting off all those chemicals that came with smoking, now just the much lower amount of nicotine and of course the vape contents.

I am starting to look at making my own vape, could be a fun time playing with flavors and so forth. Something new to learn that will be truly a personal experience.

35 years. Prolly 2+ packs/day since I rolled my own.
Quit the first day but cheated on occasion the first year because my friends/wife still smoked.
Rolling through my third year. No interest in smokes.

I'm starting to believe that, as a smoker, you gravitate towards other smokers.
When you quit, your circle expands.

I had no interest in quitting, I just wanted a way to "smoke" indoors instead of freezing to death on the porch. But vaping just gradually overtook smoking, over the course of a month. When I saw it was happening, I realized that maybe I really could quit, so I made more of an effort, but quit when I thought the time was right. That was just over 100 days ago; no smoking, no craving, just vaping and doing all kinds of cool geeky stuff with coils and wicks and whatnot. It's a lot more fun than smoking, that's for damn sure. :thumb:

Vaping absolutely helped me quit smoking. I find it more addictive than smoking, though. That's just because it's more fun! The benefits are endless: No awful smells, no harmful chemicals, no cancer(that we know of), awesome flavors and tastes, no having to stand in the rain to do it, etc etc etc. It's the best decision I ever made. The key to really giving up the smoking habit though, IMO is equipment. Before I got my provari, I was still tempted to light up. After I got a really nice dripping atomizer(IGO-W), some good coil making materials, and the provari, that habit went right out the window!

I don't really consider myself an x-smoker. I'm a recovering smoker who vapes. It might sound like a matter of semantics but its not to me. I recognize that I'm still and probably always will be a few smokes away from returning to 2PAD. I smoked for nearly 60 years and not the nicotine addiction which is long gone if it ever was a factor but all the rest that goes along with a deeply engrained, comforting, habit creates an obsession for me. I was a daily dual user for a long time and then one who only dual-used during high stress. I learned how to quickly lay them back down after slipping during stressful situations and don't kid myself that it can't happen again. So, yeh, I try to keep myself humble knowing I'll most likely always be a recovering smoker who might slip now and then but, thanks to vaping, am not likely to become chained to a deadly habit with my one-day-at-a-time approach.

I had a 40 year, pack a day addition and nothing had worked to help me break until the day I got my eGo, haven't had a cigarette since. What really put a smile on my face was being able to vape while hospitalized recently. The FDA may be raising cane about vaping but the hospitals and city employers in my area are supporting it, giving employees incentives on reduced health insurance premiums if they make the switch! :D

I had tried everything from pharmaceutical nicotine substitutes to hypnosis and acupuncture. No extended success. Now a year without a cigarette, that is success. One thing I have thought about is that if I have a craving then one or two puffs on the PV calms it. If I was smoking, I'd smoke the whole cigarette and have the crave again shortly, smoke another whole cigarette, you get the picture - soon a pack is gone. A single puff versus an entire cigarette? My choice is clear.

I got my ego kit Feb 7, and haven't had a smoke since the 8th. I've since upgraded multiple times since then and can't be any happier. No intention of ever going back. All other methods of quitting a 40 year 1+ pad habit failed. Vaping is the only thing that did it and for that, I am truly grateful for it.

What do you consider vaping? Is it smoking, a nicotine substitute or something else? For me, it is a nicotine substitute or delivery system with the capability of total elimination of nicotine.

I would think it's probably NOT designed to get you off cigs, because if that was the intention.. they'd be killing off their own business no?

unless you consider vaping the same as having quit smoking..
