Im about 4 days into vaping and have not had an analog since. My job is 12 hr shifts and there are no set breaks so you take a break when you have a min or two. Since I didnt know when my next chance to smoke would be, I would light up every chance I got and normally I did not have a lot of time so I would smoke it fast. I was going through about a pack in a 12 hour shift. I bought a couple of disposables here and there (njoy, blu) but did not really care for them that much. I wasnt really trying to quit just trying to have something I could puff on when I got a minute but didnt really have time to smoke a whole cigarette. About 4 days ago I bought an atmos rx from a gas station. It was definitley better than the disposables but the juice was not that great. I did a little research and it turned out the they were both cheap knockoffs made in china.
I finally broke down and talked to a coworker that is pretty big into vaping and has a couple of really nice setups and he informed me that we actually have a b&m vape shop in my town with a tasting bar.
I got up early before work the next day and stopped by the shop and told them I just wanted a basic setup. They suggested the Evod kit so I got that and 4 bottles of juice. That night when I went into work I took my new evod and half a pack of camels cause I was only planning on vaping in between cig breaks. Turns out I havnt had a desire for a cig since. I actually through the half pack away about halfway through the night and havnt looked back since.
Now the only addiction I have is researching vaping and trying to learn as much as I can. Only 4 days in and I am already wanting to upgrade lol. I look forward to looking through the forums and learning from everyone here.

Congrats and welcome to the ECF

The desire to constantly upgrade your vape gear is a serious addiction fear - set a monthly vape budget (I started with the equivalent of what I would have spent on smoking)

here is what I had within 90 days of starting vaping

2 vamo's
1 MVP1
1 Zmax 3
1 Nzonic mech
2 Ego Twists 650mah
2 Ego 350mah (1 is always in my pocket - just in case - remember high school and that ring imprint on your wallet)
1 Ego 1100mah passthru
2 wired VV passthru's (1 in car, 1 in house)
multiple 510 and 808 cigalikes (with carto's) stashed away in car and around house (kinda like an alcoholic hides booze)
2 kayfun lite+ (clones - as the real ones are always out of stock)
8 assorted Protanks (1, 2, and mini's)
12+ evods
12+ assorted vivi nova's, iClear16's, ce4 style clearo's (not in regular use - emergency vapocalypse backups)
AGA-T2+ and assorted RDA's
about 200 ft of Kanthal in assorted gauges
about 100 ft of assorted silica
2 bags of organic cotton
8 18650 batteries
2 18350 batteries
and for DIY eliquid
2 quarts of PG
2 quarts of VG
500 ml of 60mg nic base
1000+ ml of assorted concentrated flavorings
400ml of eliquid mixed, steeped and ready to go

congrats jasper! i was out of town thanksgiving and daughter in law took me to their vape store. i started with egos and kanger clearomizers with three juices. vaped on the drive home that night. didn't have to find an ashtray. had a couple of cigs with coffee next morning and decided to vape the rest. lit one more after dinner and put it out halfway. that was it for me. i still have two packs of marlboro i bought on the way to the vape store in tennessee. april fools will be 5 mos. most equipment is from china. a chinaman invented the ecig. go figure? what doesn't come from china anymore? clones aren't bad, quite good actually. i am into making my own coils and wicking with american wire and cotton. the juice doesn't care what holds it. the build you make changes everything. i have finally settled on 30ga kanthal wire and 1.4 ohm resistance builds. gives alot more vape than any stock coil. i played with sub-ohm builds with a RDA on a mech mod recently and it was too much vape for me. felt more like drowning than vaping. i also got overnicked from 28ga subohm builds. the more vapor you produce the more nic you receive faster. the good news is after 4 1/2 mos, i finally know my nic level and how to maintain. i started with 18mg and got nicked my second day. my vendor carried 0,9,18, and 24mg. anyway i ordered 9mg and when it came i vaped like mad for a while. i had to mix 9 with 18 to varied degrees to be happy. as i got into building, the performance improved as the wire diameter increased and now very happy with 9mg. the lower the resistance the more vape can be produced. that doesn't necessarily apply to stock coils. there are many variables to consider. i like an airy draw and airflow control lets me set it to my liking. the kanger aerotank is bottom dual coil and one of the best stock setups. they are plentiful and easy to locate. kayfun clones are an excellent device. i have the 3.1 version with airflow and looking for a 4 channel design. it is super easy to build and my favorite vaporizer. new things come out every day it seems. a vamo v5 mod helped me experiment and learn alot and enhanced my vape substantially. i had to get a mech mod to play with sub-ohm and wound up liking it too. really glad you also found vaping as a viable less harmful alternative to smoking and you will see and feel the results of your decision sooner than you think. good luck. hope i gave you an idea of some videos to look for. check out tasteyourjuice.com for good info and video review links. pose any questions you have at ecf and happy vaping!

Yep. I wasn't trying to quit either. Just bought a Blu to try this new "e-cig" thing out. Forgot to smoke for some eight hours. Forgot. Me. Two packs a day for thirty years and I just forgot to light up? It. Was. Weird.

Now, April 15th will be my first full unearth without smoking even one. I'm still a little dazed. I've never gone a YEAR without smoking. No "quit" attempt (and I tried so many times) went a year. And it started with a "oops, I forgot to smoke". :D

Luckily havnt been overnicked yet but i did start low (6mg). I really dont think nicotine addiction was every really my problem as i quit cold turkey several times. Sometimes it was for months, sometimes a couple of years. It was just the physical habit. Driving was my biggest problem. I use to have an how drive to work and had a lit cig the whole time. Just lighting the next one off the previous. That did get me overnicked a few times. Driving, gambling or shooting pool all lead to chain smokin. But if i was at home and didnt leave the house i could go all day without lighting up.
I think the closest i came to overnicking on vaping was at the shop trying to taste all 40+ flavors my first time lol

For me vaping was a way to smoke in home and around my wife. She hates the smell of smoke. Oh how little I knew then. I escaped the GAS so many ppl get. My father started vaping before I did. Once he got frustrated with something he'd ask me if I wanted it. Who doesn't like a free mvp2? Even my bad vape days I remind myself vaping = more time with my wife. Btw I hear you on chain puffing while driving. That's one of the greatest things, to me, about vaping. I puff away and the heat, snow, rain or w/e Mother Nature throws out me stays outside my friggin car cause my windows are rolled up! Enjoy your quest for the perfect vape.
