A nicotine level of less then 3mg would a challenge to many vapers! And you can bet your bottom dollar I will be picking up another liter of 100mg nic next sale reserved for "bumping up" any store bought juice! Not sure if nic base can/will escape FDA's "non-addictive" limit.

FWIW, there was no talk of lowering nic content in vapes. It seems the strategy is to make combustible cigs less-than satisfying so that us hard-core nic addicts will switch to some other way of getting it that's less harmful. I really don't know how effective this strategy will be. If I was still an unrepentant smoker, I'd probably be looking at what's involved in growing my own tobacco in the near future.

I just took a wild stab at what level of nicotine they might consider to be "non-addictive."

On the positive side, are they admitting that nicotine is not addictive if used in small dosages? I wonder how many "non-addictive nicotine" cigarettes one can smoke in an hour before reaching a nicotine intake level at which they will become addictive? This whole idea/premise borders on absurd. Kinda like the idea of limiting soft drink size to 12oz. without considering somebody buying two!

This whole reduce the nic in cigs is ludicrous, it's only going to cause more harm to smokers. Why even try to re invent a wheel that is already rolling?!? Vaping is working at getting folks to quit, just tell the damn truth about relative harm and or lack thereof, including smokeless tobacco products, and get that message out in a positive and strong way, and the smokers will evntually maybe at least try a path different from the failed non pleasure BP nic replacement strategies. It's going to work in the UK, and it will get noticed...better to get on board early than look like a bufoon later on. << that last part is for the bureaucrats and doctors and public health folks

When I smoked, a pack a day of Red Marlboros was sufficient and I always had a few left the next morning. Cutting tar and nicotine by switching to light cigarettes resulted in my pack a day habit turning into a two pack a day habit. When I tried Carltons I was well into the 3rd pack most days.

I haven't seen that happening with vaping. I vape 24mg for several years before I cut down to 3mg. I'm still at two 4.5ml Kayfun tanks a day with a little left the next morning.

3 might be enough to scratch my itch if I were willing to DL-huff giant clouds at high wattage, but I have no interest in vaping that way.

Seems pretty obvious there's some threshold since nobody is addicted to eggplant, right? However, that threshold probably varies a great deal from person to person.

Yes, I'm thinking I'd have to smoke at least 6 or 7 per hour. I think I could not do that. BUT, I also could have done nothing ELSE, were it not for vaping. What a paradox. While I'm glad the FDA is looking at cigs with a bleary eye, we aren't Sweden. We are not a socialist nation who listens to our government, much. PSAs for e-cigs wouldn't go over that well with smokers, I don't think. Perhaps I'm wrong, and that things will work out well, but reducing nic in tobacco is just going to cause more smoking, at least at first. I'm not sure if that's a strategy or what... But it reminds me of prohibition, because there will be smokers who dig in their heels, just as vapers stocked up....

I don't know the answers to any of this, but I don't think anyone "WON." There is no win to be had for FDA involvement though I have to say Gottleib himself kind of impresses me. It's still a giant, political machine that will be moving forward.... quietly.... announcing stuff.... moving forward..... etc. Though I *believe* that Gottleib is doing the right things in many ways... It's just nerve-wracking and no one is winning. I say let smokers smoke normally, and encourage e-cig use when ready. But, what do I know?

You have to wonder how much actual nic is ingested by a MTL vapor versus a DTL vapor. Comparing 3mg strength in a mouthful vs a lung full has to be much different in absorption rates. That, and daily ML juice consumption rates would make up the difference.

Yep, all "light" cig's are is that they are designed for you to suck more air. Back when I was on the Stinkies I tried Lights for some time and all I accomplished was smoking twice as much or more.

Once I realized how much money I was saving I started trying new hardware in search of the Holy Grail of vaping. I'm still searching for that. They keep raising the bar ...

And so I sit here. Still with ProVari, kayfun and kabuki. My holy grail.

Vivi Nova ... I had forgotten about that one. Top coil with spider wicks and a plastic tank. I had the skinny version. From there it was the Kanger Protank and the Aspire Nautilus.

Kayfun V3.1 and V2 grabbed me and wouldn't let go. Now, I buy a tank or two here and there and usually spend more time with the Kayfun. If the new ones aren't my favorites they are still valid backups for the future.
