I tried the k5..... we don't get along

It's being gifted to someone I know that knows how to play nice with it. ;)

Pretty much told me to stick with the things I've learned and that work very well for my style of vaping

The KF5 wasn't my favorite, either. I thought I liked the KF4 and ended up buying 3 of those. More stuff to keep in case it's all outlawed one day.

I just got through playing with the Merlin again. I want to like it, but the adjustments are just too ticky. You can't twist the tank to adjust the juice control without affecting the airflow (and vice versa). I like set and forget adjustments. Once I get it all set and screw it down to lock in the adjustments, they move again.

SO, I ended up with the Kayfun Mini V3 on my Alien and I'm liking it. I can still detect a touch of machine oil in the vape on both of the KF3 Minis. I guess I'm going to have to break them down to piece parts and do the alcohol and water mix thing again in the UC. I left the base assembled the first time.

I used to smoke just over a pack a day of Morley reds or whatever of the biggies was on sale...Old Golds, Camel, Winston or Morleys. OG, W & C got the job done but I'm sure that M adds something else to make them more addictive. Not necessarily more nicotine but something else. If it wasn't an M then it wasn't as satisfying.
I switched to Mediums when they became available because I couldn't handle Reds anymore. I'd cough and hack but still smoke just as many. People suggested that I cut down. Hah. I never cut down anything. I drank how I drink. I dru**ed how I dru*. I smoked how I smoke. I never cut down. I do whatever how I do it until I quit.

You have to wonder how much actual nic is ingested by a MTL vapor versus a DTL vapor. Comparing 3mg strength in a mouthful vs a lung full has to be much different in absorption rates. That, and daily ML juice consumption rates would make up the difference.

I've read that most of our (vaped) nicotine gets absorbed through the mucous membranes in our mouth & throat, very little if any though our trachea & alveoli. Us lungers like getting a lungful but probably just for the sensation. We get as much nicotine by volume of our "hit" instead of concentration.

I've been staying between ~50-75mg/day nicotine intake whether it was
4ml x 18mg
5-6ml x 12mg
or 15-17ml x 3mg now.

I like drawing the vapor into my mouth and then exhaling through the nose. There's another level of flavor detection when you do that, especially if you are experiencing vaper's tongue. I'm still doing a shallow inhale far too often, but I try to do more of the nose exhale without inhaling deep into the lungs anymore than I have to.

This is being approached as if nicotine is the only addictive component in cigarettes, something of which I am not convinced.
No reason you should be...
The addition of five minor tobacco alkaloids increases nicotine-induced hyperactivity, sensitization and intravenous self-administration in rats. - PubMed - NCBI
These results suggest that the minor tobacco alkaloids, particularly anatabine, cotinine and myosmine, may increase the motivation for nicotine and thus facilitate smoking behaviour.

I tried Carltons for a week one time. I could chain smoke those and no satisfaction at all. You really have to draw hard on those to get anything. You can sort of get smoke out of them by holding your fingers over the ring of holes around the filter.

Tape over all the holes, or cut the filter right at the holes will get you a normal ultralight. Do not remember why I bought a pack of Carltons over 35 years ago, but do remember why I never bought a second one!
