Did you keep anything as a reminder to never go back?

Towards the end of my cigarette addiction, thing got pretty rough. At $10 a pack here in Chicago, it got pretty expensive. You know how addiction is so I had to turn to crime. I started mugging people. When people see a knife, they get scared and hand over their money pretty quick. Anyways, the last guy I mugged must have thought he was the next Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris and he kicked the knife out of my hand. He was so thrilled with his kick he was like "Did you see that? Wasn't that cool? That should be in a movie!" He was so proud of himself he never saw the kick to the nuts coming. It was a good kick too, I think I knocked his boys clear up into his chest and picked up my knife while he was bent over trying to breath and said, "Now that should have been in a movie! Ya know, I wasn't actually going to hurt you. You think just because someone pulls a knife on you, they are going to hurt you? That's stereotyping man! That's profiling and profiling and stereotyping are wrong! I could just be a compulsive butterer for all you know. Jerk!"

So after taking his money I bought some cigs and a box of butter. I keep that empty box of butter as a reminder not to smoke and to remember what a jerk that guy was.

I was cleaning out the garage today and found an old Marlboro pack. I was going to toss it but there's some nuts and bolts to something so it's still on the shelf. I did manage to sweep up a few butts that had escaped an ash try many moons ago.

Little by little all the reminders are finding their way to a trash can.

I have a pack of Kools in my living room cabinet and a pack of Kools in my bedside table. I did not smoke Kools, my dad did, for about 55 years. He passed away of kidney cancer, which is smoking related, about a year and a half ago. It's a very, very strong reminder of my dad and I will likely always keep them. I stopped smoking the day I started vaping, 1 year ago. I have absolutely no desire to open those Kools, but if I have a memento I guess they are it.

I actually smoked after 4 months of vaping, took me 2 weeks to use that pack. I snapped the last couple ones and Im keeping the box to remind myself of the wheezing and coughing up that nasty stuff right now. I wrote the date on it and put a note inside of it to remind myself that I can get through a stressful situation without them

I don't keep anything special around. I use pretty or souvenir ash trays for jewelry and other useful things. But why is it that when I was smoking I could never find a lighter but for several months after I quit they were turning up everywhere? I have a drawer full of the things.

Ya. I kept 2 lighters in the hardware cabinet with the candles in case the lights go out. Yup. I cant think of any other use.

I did not keep any cigarettes around. I picked up my starter set when I had one carton left and when the last cig was gone from the last pack, I threw the can of butts and the pack away. All I have left (aside from the cheap bic lighters to use for candles and such, is a fancy lighter and a commemorative ashtray my wife and I picked up on our honeymoon. Funny enough, I just cleaned out the drawer where I kept my cigs, lighters, and other junk to make room for my vape stuff just before I found this thread.
