So I am purchasing my first mechanical mod, which is also my first battery purchase. The site I use, smoktek, have these two batteries, the purple ones in part of a kit. The red is 100mah higher, but is cheaper, so I am missing what is better with the purple.
I see the Purple is 10.5A and red does not state the Amp, so is it possibly the amperage?

Thanks guys....I searched but did not see the answer and its my first battery purchase, so sorry if this is a dumb question

Chipotle.
The red batteries are 6A I believe, the 10.5A Purples are a far superior cell IMO. They have tested as "very good" and can truly handle a full 10.5A, see here: Test/Review of Efest IMR18350 700mAh (Purple) 2014

For what it's worth, the Purple 10.5A 18350 is available in both button and flat top.

Edit: I should add, I own two of the Purple 18350's in flat top and I have been using them in builds as low as .45 ohms with zero issues at all. Really a good performance out of such a small battery.

First of all, be aware that Efest has a history of over-rating their battery specifications. IMHO, the majority of their batteries offered are of less quality than those made by AW or other major brand battery manufacturers. This is based on independent testing by flashlight enthusiasts and my own personal experience. This may be from the inconsistancy of individual Efest batteries, from one battery to another. Your own results may vary if you're lucky to get a better batch of Efests.

I consider the red AW 18350 IMR battery to be superior to the red Efest 18350 battery from my personal experience. I have not used the purple 18350 batteries yet, but they seem to have tested well from independent tests.

Concerning the two 18350 Efests (red vs purple), the purple would be considered the better battery spec-wise due to its higher amp rating. 100mah difference in an 18350 battery size would not be seen as being benefitual pratically speaking.

Should you ever decide to do sub-ohm RBA's in a mechanical mod, I do not consider any battery in the 18350 size to be adequate to the job due to their low amp rating and low battery capacity. Use only an 18650 size battery for sub-ohm as they will have enough amps (10 amps or higher) and mah capacity (at least 2000mah) to run sub-ohm coils. Sub-ohm RBA's draw a lot more amps from a battery than do factory made coils.

The two exceptions to this would be the AW 18490 1100mah 16.5 amp battery or the purple Efest 18500 1100mah 15 amp battery. Either of these batteries could be taken down to 0.3 ohms, but be aware that battery life may suck at that resistance.

Curious, how long of use per charge do you get from the purple 18350 batteries at 0.45 ohm? You are pushing these batteries to the amp limit on a regular basis at that resistance, which will greatly decrease their overall life expectancy.

my 18350 purple efests are sort of lackluster. they are the v1s, as i was anticipating their release and bought them immediately the first time they were up for sale in the US. first off, their life expectancy is 300 charge cycles- almost half of what AW boasts (which is 500+). secondly, they dont hold charge for very long in a resting state. for example- i charge them up to 4.2v, but they dont hold that charge for long. they will go down to 4.0-4.1v rather quickly (resting). also, the voltage drop on them is significantly more than my 18650 cells and even my AW 18490s.

dont get me wrong, they are great little batteries if only for the amp limit alone. i usually bring them almost right up to the limit (within an amp or two) and they dont even begin to break a sweat. so for that I am grateful. yet despite that, i hardly use them. the run time is low and once you couple the v-drop with the short run time, youre looking at an awfully low amount of real vape-time. but, if you are not a stickler for lack of v-drop and if you charge and use them relatively right away, they good. just not as good i would have wanted them to be.

Pretty much sums them up. Nice post!

I have a the same batteries and pretty much the same opinion of them.

Chipotle.
Just FYI I was told in a different thread that "v1" is flat top, "v2" is button top.
I've tried to confirm that information, but to no avail. From what I have gathered the button top and flat top are the exact same battery cell just with different top nipple configurations, no real V1 or V2 designation given.
