Different coil causing harsher hits?

Hey everyone! I'm still very new to vaping so please excuse my ignorance. I'm vaping using a vision spinner with a Kanger Evod tank. I went to my local vapor shop to get a new coil. The guy was about to give me one and I noticed in the display the different kinds varied. Some were 1.8-2.4 I believe. I asked what the difference was an he said basically I could use a higher voltage on my spinner with a 2.4. I bought it and put it in the tank. I noticed it made my hits much harsher and I'm not getting as much vapor. Did I do something wrong? Should I go get another 1.8 like I was using?

If you're getting a harsh hit, turn down the voltage a bit until it's to your liking. There is no set voltage that everyone likes when using a particular number of ohms for the coil.

I've found with the Evod tank, if when you fill it with a new coil, take a few short hard draws without hitting the fire button. This will draw some of the eliquid into the coil, so you won't be hitting a dryish coil. You can do this anytime you taste / feel the coil is getting too dry, or not hitting right.

p.s. Welcome to ECF!! .:toast:

Short answer: Yes you should get the 1.8

When you're new, the big thing is to establish a baseline of consistency where you know what you're going to get.
When you start to try out all kind of different things then the $floodgates$ open up and you start to spend in a chase for a satisfying vape.

If a vision spinner with a kanger evod with a 1.8 ohm coil works for you, then make sure you got that handy somewhere, even if you start trying out something else.

with the 2.4 ohm you should be able to vape at a higher voltage; but:
1: if you crank it up too high you're going to burn something
2: it might be fine for 1 or 2 drags but if you chain vape it, maybe its not wicking fast enough anyway to keep up.
