I just received my first e-cig (2 Joye eGo-s). After the batteries charged I loaded on of the 'Marlboro' prefills that came with it. Later today I decided to try another flavor - Vanilla Coke. Used a totally new atomizer and still had a similar flavor. (Yes, I blew out both atomizers on a paper towel a couple of times from both ends before using). I should point out that I definately did taste a difference between the tobacco and vanila flavors - but there is still an extremetly similar taste in the undertones of both. I chalked this up to new atomizers. But after several hours, I'm not so sure.

I finally cleaned out the prefilled marlboro flavor cartridge - pulled the batting out, wash insode the cart with water and a q-tip. Wet - squeeze - wet - squeeze the batting and patted dry with a towel. Filled the cartridge with a Menthol flavor (I smoked these until today :).) Same tobacco flavor. Drip some menthol - very good!...but after about 5 min back to the same undertones of the previous flavor - in fact it was nearly the same exact flavor as before.

Does VG have a flavor that is present no matter the flavoring added? Does PG?

BTW - Vanilla Coke tastes like those root beer barrel candies I remember as a child. The Vanilla part I like - the cola part tastes just as wierd as I though it would. From reading here, however, it's clear that tastes change, sometimes like the wind!

Vg does have a small flavor to it yes, some say its sweeter..Its all I use. I dont use Pg so I cant say if its different or not.
however for myself I found that almost all the premade ejuice did not appeal to me,
I was a menthol smoker and none of them seemed enough flavor.
I started mixing my own and couldn't be happier..finally I have the flavor I was looking for.
new atomizers seem to need some time to break in before they perform at peak..my experiance

Taste is a very subjective thing. I can tell you this; VG will add some sweetness and can mute some flavors. Add this to the fact that your taste buds are going to have their own little nervous breakdown, and you've got a recipe for "everything tastes the same" and "everything tastes like ....." Go ahead and laugh now. We all go through it. I've been vaping for over a month and my taste buds are still going through some meltdown.

If you were a fairly heavy smoker, it is probably your taste buds, not the juices, that are deceiving you. It takes a little while for your taste buds to adjust to not smoking. Or, it could be that you have a low quality juice, or a juice that needs a few days of aging for the flavor to develop. What brand of juice are you using?

Seems unlikely that you have two attys that are bitter out of two. (My term for the ones that just do not taste right, ever)

So, you may have the smoker's nose. Tasting vapor is mostly a function of smell. Maybe the receptors are not quite right and you need more time?

Most likely, you have the dripper's taste. Folks who drip do so because the start of cart or carto was always great, but then turned blah, so they drip a few drops right on the atty and vape that till production falls off, then drip again. Good way to maintain maximum taste.

You'll have to experiment to find what works for you.
