Lingering e-juice taste on atomizer?

I've been using some different TopVapor juices, namely Cherry Cola, Menthol, Pina Colada, and Mocha Latte on my two DSE901s.

When I switch flavors (I use PTB mods in my cartridges), I can still heavily taste the previous flavor. This is especially true with the Pina Colada and Mocha Latte flavors. Both these juices are much darker than the others in color.

The Mocha Latte has seemingly taken over one of my atomizers entirely, as no matter what flavor I use in it, I STILL taste a strange mocha-ish flavor.

Some flavors are simply stronger than others and will take a long time to clear out of an atomizer. The best way to deal with this is to have different atomizers dedicated to certain flavors. If two or more flavors are similar or mix well then you could use them with one atomizer/cart while keeping the stronger flavors (in your case Mocha and Pina Colada) to their own separate atomizers/carts. You may also find that draining your atomizer by blowing the leftover liquid into a paper towel and cleaning your carts can help with flavor transitions, along with other atomizer cleaning methods discussed on the forums. What advice do you have for cleaning a cart? I've just been rinsing with water, and drying with tissue.

I would say that rinsing with water and drying with tissue should do the trick for cleaning carts. That's how I've always done it. The atomizer is the main thing that holds the flavor in after you've switched from one liquid to another.

Well I tried blowing out my atomizer as best I could, basically as forceful as possible. I got liquid out, tried a different flavor, but it still tastes really strange.

Also, another atomizer just tastes straight burnt. Is this a sign of a dead/dying atomizer, or can it be saved?

Be sure to "prime" you atomizer after you blow it out. I apologize for not telling you that in my last post! When you blow out an atomizer it clears out most of the liquid that was caught in there and if you don't put enough liquid back in you will end up with a burnt nasty taste like when your carts run dry. I don't own a 901 so I don't know the exact amount of extra liquid to tell you to put in, but with my 510 atomizers I usually add 4-5 drops to a clean atomizer to prime it whereas I only add two drops when my liquid runs low. Mind you, I am dripping and not using carts. In your case I'd say put a drop or two on the atomizer before you put your cart back on and see how that works.

Some liquids, like menthols, cinamons, minty ones, tend to need their own 'special' atty or it just ruins other flavors.
I have one for all fruits, one for cinamons + mints and one for 'everything else'
I dont wash my attys, only blow them out - I try and wash the carts once a week cos they go in my mouth
Oh and I direct drip I don't use the filler.

I have found using a steam gun works great, leaves the atty shiny and clean.
Only advice is use a pliers to hold the atty while steaming it., and do both sides.

I soak in vodka (should be grain alcohol but i don't have any) swirl rinse.

I had this problem when a fellow i was buying some juice from suggested i try his home made mix something he called bavarian cream. it was a strong taste and not to my liking and he'd dripped it on my fresh new atty.

i soaked it in vodka once blew it dry. tried it again still had the lingering taste. i rinsed a bit more and left it overnight. blew it out still tasted a bit cruddy and kind of burnt. I left it soak for a day, primed the h** out of it with menthol and then got it going again.

i left the glass with the vodka sitting by my computer...while reading this forum i unconsciously reached over, picked up the glass (looking for my whiskey) and took a sip--vodka bavarian cream--

wow that was a strong flavor. the atty recovered but has performed a bit sub par. had a similar self inflicted problem with clove--i think i wrecked the atomizer trying to clean it.

now what i'm looking for is a nice Irish whiskey flavor-- any ideas?

Thanks man, I wasn't priming the atomizers. I tried it, and one is tasting pretty good now.

But my other one, that the Mocha Latte has conquered, still tastes burnt-ish. Also, it seems like the draw on it is kinda strange? With the others, I just hit and inhale, and I get a good amount of vapor. With this one, I feel like I'm getting way more air than I want when I inhale, and I don't get much vapor at all.

I use vodka to clean my atties. I will use a syringe or straw to force the vodka (cheap stuff!) through the atty and then I blow it out to get it as dry as possible. I finish up with a short dry burn. Normally that gets rid of almost all of the previous flavor.

As others have said mints, menthols, and cinnamons are very difficult to remove!

Something else to try that I do quite frequently (once a week) is let them sit in a fresh glass of Coke. Just enough to cover the atty anyway. They use that stuff to clean things that you wouldn't imagine possible But anyway Coke as we know is OK (somewhat anyway) for your body and will not hurt you. I simply let them soak overnight, rinse in hot water in the morning and blow them dry from the threaded part of the atty out the cart side (I use 510 products). If I've used some heavy VG juice I'll dry burn it a few times till the red is showing around the wick and then direct drip about 3 drops of juice. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes and wala! Just like new
