I pretty much try to keep my regular flavors in their own tank -- blueberry muffin/banana nut bread in my cartotank, Virginia in one of my kayfuns -- though that may be changing, as I really don't care for or vape that Virginia much at all anymore. My other Kayfun, I switch flavors in it a lot, and it can be a real pain -- the stainless holds no odor, but the o-rings do for sure, and maybe also the plastic part of the tank. So far I've managed, but eventually I may run into a flavor so strong that I have to boil that kayfun to get rid of the odor.

The thing about cartos is a definite +1 -- I have the punched cartos for my tank, but I also keep some regular cartos around, if there's a flavor I sorta like but want to "try on" for a while. I do have a dripper I can use for quick taste tests, but I hate dripping for just sitting around, so the plain cartos are a good compromise.

I'm finding that it's true that using multiple flavors helps to prevent "taste fatigue", a/k/a vaper's tongue, so it really is a good idea to have several tanks setup with flavors you like to rotate around -- also because certain flavors go together (my tea with blueberry muffin), and certain flavors emphatically do NOT (pineapple juice with blueberry muffin, argh -- or drinking tea with a coffee vape -- that one is just WEIRD).

Boy! The more I read, the more that I didn't know that I didn't know! I feel so stupid

Is Kayfun a tank? If so, is it a type of tank or a brand?
Are 'catros" tanks like an EVOD?
What is a "dripper"?

So, if I'm going to use dedicated tanks (eventually because I can't get them all at once)
Should I stick with glass or is plastic okay? Although, I'm not sure I like the idea of all plastic all the time.

My husband has a cherry that I find is nasty! Too sweet and chemically tasting. I want to start making my own. Don't worry, I'll ask my questions about flavors over there, or just like the helpful posts :)

This thread has been very helpful, thank you for asking this question! I recently ordered a new batch of flavors and was considering picking up a new tank to try them out and I have been convinced. Also, this will give me a chance to try out another tank and see how I like it in comparison to my Kanger mini protank 2, I may try the nautilus. I'll have to ask the owner of my local vape shop for a recommendation on the tank. I have been using the same tank but I tend to vape tobaccos, butterscotches and the milk and honeys so they blend well together. Might be taking a ride today :D

This is a video talking to Bridged 510 Atomize. Note: this is considered a dripper

This is a cartomizer. Note: I consider these a very poor choice for sampling juices. I've never been able to remove the taste of the first juice it was filled with

This is an example of a Kayfun RTA (rebuildable tank atomizer)

I am looking to remedy the problem of taste testing my DIY flavors and looked into the cartos as an option and I see you mention using the "Punched" cartos...I have seen this statement in some reviews...what is the difference in a "Non-punched" and a "Punched" carto???
Thanks!!

Punched cartos have holes in them, for use in a tank -- non-punched can be used by themselves, or you can get a tool to punch your own holes -- the non-punched are generally always cheaper, but more importantly, people using thick, viscous high-vg juices may need more or bigger holes than the typical default punched.

For taste testing DIY I preferred a dripping atomizer. Very easy to swap flavors, just vape 4 or 5 drops of unflavored and sample your next creation.

That's true, and it's why I got an Igo-S; dripper, but tight-ish airflow like a kayfun -- but unfortunately, as someone pointed out above, not all juices taste good in a kayfun, or a dripper -- my own ADV blueberry muffin/banana nut bread doesn't taste good in a kayfun at all, but I love it in my cartotank -- so I also keep plain cartos around, to use for testing purposes, if something I taste in the Igo-S is *ok* but not great -- it might be better in a carto.

Not stupid, I just didn't know you were this new to vaping -- my bad! We all start out going, umm... are you speaking English, or what? :D

Is Kayfun a tank? If so, is it a type of tank or a brand?

An authentic Kayfun is a brand, but there are a lot of clones of it, the two best being the Tobeco and EHPro versions, so in those cases, it's more a "type" of tank than a brand. Technically it could be called either an RBA or RTA -- rebuildable atomizer, or rebuildable tank atomizer.

Are 'cartos" tanks like an EVOD?

No, Evods are clearomizers; cartos can either be used by themselves, or if they have holes punched in them, in a cartotank.

What is a "dripper"?

A dripping atomizer -- you drip the juice directly rather than having any kind of tank; the most common variety nowadays is the "RDA", rebuildable dripping atomizer, but there are other types that don't require rebuilding, or are "bottom-fed" (like a REO, a very expensive brand/type). You don't actually have to drip using a REO, you "squonk" which apparently means squeezing the juice bottle, but that's about all I know of them; they're about a lottery-win out of my budget. :D

Should I stick with glass or is plastic okay? Although, I'm not sure I like the idea of all plastic all the time.

Plastic is actually just fine for a majority of ejuices, but certain flavors are based on caustic chemicals that are death on plastic -- cinnamon redhot (the baking kind of cinnamon seems to be fine in plastic, but definitely not redhot), citrus and some other fruits, and maybe some other types that aren't leaping to mind, it's been a long day. :)

My husband has a cherry that I find is nasty! Too sweet and chemically tasting. I want to start making my own. Don't worry, I'll ask my questions about flavors over there, or just like the helpful posts :)

Making your own ejuice really is the best way to get the exact flavor that YOU like, instead of what some juice maker thought was good -- I prefer all my non-tobaccos pretty sweet, but tobacco flavors, decidedly UNsweet, more to the bitter side of taste. It's challenging at first because there are different flavor manufacturers, and not all flavors are created equal -- FlavourArt "Virginia" tastes like rotten celery, but Tobacco Express "Virginia" is wonderful! Also there is a fair amount of "stuff" you need to have, and I'm constantly running into oh, I need more bottles, and geez, the markings are completely worn off this syringe (nowadays I put clear tape over the markings as soon as I break it out of the pkg!). And there are different purveyors of nicotine, and apparently some difference in their tastes. It's like learning to cook for the 2nd time in my life. :D

I use different tanks for different favors. When I am still unsure about something new I use a "throw away" until I know I love it.

I use different tanks for different flavors, as well. I have 6 tanks. I have never had a problem with switching my tank over to a new flavor until this time . I ordered some flavors from Mt Baker and they sent me a little sample bottle of their flavor Spew...it made me want to spew . I have cleaned it twice and changed the coil and cannot get that taste out. I'm afraid I might have to throw away a brand new tank
