First off, I love this tank. I've been vaping since 2008 and I swore off ever going back to dealing with wicks/coils since the Herakles Plus' flavor and vapor from their SS coils was so great and easy to manage. I tried the dual coil version of this tank on a whim with some 3mm SS fused clapton pre-built coils and it's amazing. I wicked it perfectly on my first time using it but then had some leaking on a subsequent attempt. Once I corrected my wicking it's back to being perfect.

My question is to those that have the tank or are familiar with it. I've noticed in some videos online that there appears to be an o-ring sitting inside the top section that the pyrex/glass piece sits in. I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like that it based on what I could see in the video. Can anyone confirm this? My RTA came assembled with one in the bottom section but I took one of the spare o-rings from the bag to add to the top. I just want to make sure it's supposed to be there.

Also, does anyone else use SS fused clapton coils in their RTA? It doesn't have to be the same tank. I'm just curious how often I should be changing my coils and if dry burning SS coils is safe. I had moved to building Ti coils prior the Herakles and was aware of the issues with dry burning Ti. I just want to make sure that SS isn't in the same boat. Thanks.

Caveat, I don't have the tank but yes you can dry burn your coils to clean them. They will last quite a while. I have a set in my Boreas of 3×28g ss316l that have been in for months.

I'd be interested to see some pics of this deck and wicking if you can.

I dry burn my SS coils as well, but I use simple round 316L. How is it with Claptons though? You have all those nooks and crannies so even after a light burn, do you lightly brush them out and rinse or just rinse under some water, which is all I ever have to do. I have some spools of SS Clapton actually sitting here I've never gotten around to playing with.

Yeah, it's really been great. I reminds me of the Herakles Plus tank actually with the top airflow going down to the coils. I just close it off though since I like flavor more than I care about vapor. Don't get me wrong though, it makes A LOT of vapor lol. I run it in TC mode with my DNA200 Reuleaux but with aggressive 500F settings. Juice is Grant's Vanilla Custard (all VG) custom mixed 20mg nic. I sneak vapes in my office, so using high nic is the most efficient way to vape for me.

I actually just put some new coils in last night and just thought to double check and see if it was safe to dry burn. She's all full of juice and I'm at the office so I really can't open her up here for pics, but will next time. I just bought a pack of 10 26gx2/34g 316L SS, 3mm with 6 wraps. I also picked up the same thing but in 3.5mm, but haven't tried those yet.

With the 3mm coils I jam as much cotton into the coils as possible and then fluff out the ends in the channels. I wet them all the way down to prime and then leave some room at the top of the tank when filling and no leaking. I've also been tipping it upside to let air escape out the bottom as a precaution but I'm not sure if that actually does anything.

When I was using Ti and building my own I would pulse at low temps to make sure everything was ok, then wipe them down with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol to clean them off. I haven't tried water but was using water with Kanthal to clean them. I may try running these SS claptons under the faucet after dry burning to see how it works, but I think the alcohol and q-tip is a good precaution to do after. May be overkill, but better safe than sorry.

I just re-wicked again last night. Here are some photos. I fell asleep with it in bed and woke up to find it on its side...nothing leaked out at all.

Might wanna have a read if you haven't already

Dry-burning metal coils: is it a good thing?

Dry-burning metal coils: is it a good thing?
I read through it but he doesn't say anything about which coil materials this is in reference to. I also clean them with water and rubbing alcohol after dry burning them and am vaping juice with very high nic levels (20mg Grant's Vanilla Custard, all VG). By using high nic, I'm not vaping nearly as much as the cloud chasers you see on youtube. Literally taking one short lung hit at a time. Saves on juice too.

Thank you sir!
Sure, you got it! This was with an all VG juice as well, so it's very thin and still no leaking :) The coils are the same 3mm 316L SS fused claptops and I stuffed them with as much cotton as I could pull through them. It moved my coils slightly, but I just pushed them back over before screwing it back together. It might be easier to use the 3.5mm, but my build is coming in at .15ohm. I'm use TC with a DNA200 and have it set very aggressively to maximum pre-heat power and at 500F. I don't think I'm even getting to 500F, but it's working great where it is so I'm not messing with it :)

I have the single coil version and I've been having a slight problem lately. When the tank gets down to almost empty, I get a pretty good leak from this thing. Not a drop when it's full or even half full. Any ideas as to why this is happening?
Possibly it could be you're not using enough wick. This things needs a lot of cotton.

Then maybe it's a pressure issue. I do not know the dynamics of what would cause this pressure issue. Maybe someone with some more brain cells here can help out with that.

I actually talked to Geekvape/Digiflavor this weekend and they said they've been having issues like that reported.

The reason I called them was I was putting in a new coil and the hole where the screw goes in stripped. I have to send it back.
