Dilluting VG question.

So...my stuff should be here tomorrow for my first try at DIY. I did receive my flavors today from TPA woohoo...(they smell great!).

I know the VG nic base will be a little too thick for me. About what percent of distilled water would I need to add to get it along the same consistancy as PG or does it vary too much to be able to tell except by trial and error? I really can't find the answer I'm looking for.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Worldgod from another Washingtonian. I'm kinda new at this DIY stuff myself so I could learn from your question as well. I would like to understand your question better. I do know that DIY is a lot of trail & error/experimenting. I'm not sure why it's important for the VG to be the same consistency as PG and I'm wondering also if adding water to the juice will dilute the flavor and TH. Sorry I can't be of help but hopefully we can both learn something here.

Well, I don't kow that it's important but I will be using the juice in some CE2s which I understand (I have not tried them yet) work better with thinner juices and also in dual coils. I kinda plan on pre-diluting my VG based nic then makin my actual juice so I will be able to make the nic level what ever I want and flavored as strong (or weak) as I see fit.

We'll see...hehe...it's all new still and lots of fun

You may also consider adding a little amount of ethanol (PGA). Usually 1 drop for 10 ml acts like 5% of water. TH remains the same (or even better) and you don't lose the taste of the original.

Nice...thanks OC. I am however trying to dillute it before any mixing. Not sure why yet but I think it will work better for me that way. But I will def look into some PGA as well.

If your VG is very thick (99.5-100%) then thinning at a ratio of 4 parts VG to 1 part water (80/20) will closely match the viscosity of PG.

As OC says, alcohol works very well too. Consider using vodka, which is easily available and then you have both water and alcohol in a consistent ratio. I would suggest trying a mix of 90% VG / 10% vodka.

I always keep a bottle of thinned VG on hand. I make up a batch of 100-150mL and it's convenient to use and easy to draw with a syringe.

I also thin my VG before using for mixing. I keep a bottle of VG thinned at a ratio of 80%-20% with Vodka, Everclear or distilled water.

Works well for me but I like mine thinner than some. You might try a small batch first thinned at 9-10% then you could always thin it more if it needs it.

I think I'm goin to try a few different things. I'll use water, vodka, pga and make little batches starting at like 5%, 10%, 15% and going to maybe 20% and just see what I like best.

Exactly, Worldgod - making your own small amounts is the best way to find something that for sure would suit you. I'd suggest going up to 15%.

They did not have any 100 proof or pga in that small and I really don't wanna drink a bunch of it so I refrained for now. Too bad beer would not be a good idea I always have beer at the house...lol...

80 proof vodka is OK, too. In my opinion better than diluting the liquid with water. You'd get some extra TH.

You can use Vodka. Or Rum for that matter. Some people also use PG to dilute VG.

BTW - The KEY to doing DIY is writting down EVERYTHING you put in a mix. If you add a few more drops of this or a ml of that as an after thought, Write It Down.

Also, don't try your DIY mixes until they have sat in a cool dark place for 48 hours or so. The flavor tends to build over a day or two.

Some of vapers in Poland tried it (not me) - the result was quite bad.
