Thank you for all the answers-- in response to what juices I'm using, it's right there in the OP. :p 80PG/20PG.

I'm willing to buy a Provari if it's as good as everyone says it is, but I've literally spent about $300 in the past month. I kind of want any purchase I make next to be a darn good one, especially with how expensive I remember the provaris being. I'll put up a second thread asking for suggestions on where to get one, etc.

Thanks also for your support- I'm definitely not going back to analogs, but I know from what I'm reading that there are better options out there than what I've got so I guess I just have to keep chugging through the beginner's stage...

were more asking what flavor juice and what vendor you got it from not what pg/vg percentage it is:)
flavoring usually makes up a good 20% or more of the juice and depending on the flavors used can ad or cancel out good TH.
as far as were to get a provari if you want a new one there is only one place to go provape.com

Me thinks mayhaps you need to work on your Vape, not your Gear.

I smoked Marlboro for 45yrs and get plenty of TH off 12mg - if stressed I switch to 18mg
I do have several decent mods, but the Ego's with plain old 1.8ohm Ce5 deliver fine.

One note - a 3 second hit won't do much, while a 6-7 second hit can make me choke.

There are so many factors to throat hit. Keep trying, you'll find it, eventually. The cartomizers make a big difference and, believe it or not, airflow. Too much airflow will give you a bad throat hit since it is saturated with air. Funny thing is, the more clogged my cartomizers in my tanks get, the better throat hit I get. But yeah, ego batteries are going to be a real challenge for good throat hit unless you use something like cinnamon juice which will destroy most tanks.

\Any VV that will hit at least 5 volts will give you the power you need. The mod/battery is just providing power to the delivery device for the most part. Of course, you can get a lot more technical with it but you don't HAVE to get a provari to get a good throat hit. I had have a cheapo gripper knockoff that I can crank up to 4 volts and get amazing throat hits with.

Also, the lower in ohms you go the bigger the throat hit possible. A provari running an awesome cartomizer like something ikenvape makes at 2.0 ohms is going to give you a throat hit. It might burn up your juice but it will give you a throat hit. The provari is the only device capable that I know of that can even run cartomizers below 1 ohms. My sweet spot is a provari set at 4 volts running a 1.5 ohm cartomizer. Juice doesn't really matter for me with that setup. Your mileage may vary.

It's great you have a VV device but not being able to hit 4 volts at least is a huge issue.

Try a KGO or Ego Twist with an XL Smoktech cartomizer @ 1.7 (or 1.8?) ohms. You can buy them in bulk from Crystal Clear Vaping.

I don't like the dual coil cartos; they just don't work well for me. Ditto for the clearomizers. They're ok in a pinch but they don't pack the same punch as the good cartos.

The flavor of juice, the nic level, and the PG/VG ratio all play a role in throat hit - as does your method of inhaling. You may have to do a bit of trial and error to figure out your sweet spot.
