Disappointed in Gamucci, and now this forum, as well.

Heh, I can't believe I've gotten this many responses already. Thanks, people! I've got a question though... for as much as I see people talking about 510's, I've yet to see someone define what a 510 actually is. >:D I'm guessing it refers to the size and shape, but I'm really not sure. Could someone please explain it to me?

@dormouse, I understand the intent, I just think it's a futile and frustrating gesture. I mean, really, who's going to put more effort into getting those 5 posts out of the way: someone who just wants to leave useful feedback? Or someone who stands to make a buck? Because honestly, if I could get paid for doing this, I'd have 30 posts by now, not two. Like someone said earlier, it seems more like the moderators are just 'putting the kids in the sandbox while they drink beer'. Which I get and all; I like drinking beer, too. The only problem is that right now I'm thirsty and stuck in the sandbox>:-[ [by the way, whoever said that, thank you- I LOL'd]

Welcome, KirLog! Sorry to hear about your troubles, but glad you're here! 510 actually refers more to the type of threading and model of the e-cig. The 510 has more of an "analog" look to it...long, thin. I think they're rather pretty. The 510 threading is very popular, so anything that's made for the 510 can be used with it. Riva and eGo "fat batts" also have 510 threads so everything is interchangeable.

It's not futile at all. In fact, it works really, really well. If it didn't work, we wouldn't have the rule. Our members tend to like the fact that they are not inundated with spam posted all over the forum all the time. Not to mention the fact that our volunteer moderator staff enjoys not having to play "whack-a-mole" with spammers all day long, which frees them up with doing more important things, such as helping our members.

Actually it works Really Really well. Ya we get a few folks that complain about it, but it keeps the Other 95% of the forum spam free and our returning members happy.

Gamucci... yeah, I tried one of those during the last 24 hours before my first "real" kit showed up. It compares to Camels like a dried out hand-rollie made with 2 year-old "Gambler" tobacco (sold in 2 lb. bags).

If you take half the nicotine out first.

But hey, it did the trick for that one day, right?

Thanks for the memory/shudder combo...

I started with a 510 kit and then moved pretty quickly to eGo/Riva devices. It's been a pretty smooth ride, I can't remember anything actually breaking (unless I did it intentionally, taking something apart).

Yes, same here.

Started with the Riva eGo which uses the Joye 510 atomizer, which is a great one, but gives longer battery usage with the eGo battery. Also, it's a manual battery which is what I prefer.

There's a bit of a learning curve with selecting and using a PV, but once you get it figured out, you're good.

The Joye 510 is about the size of a King or 100mm cigarette. Great vapor production but short battery life (3 hours or so). The tip glows and I believe has only (correct me if I am wrong) an automatic on/off function. (Inhale to activate.)

You should always have at least two batteries and atomizers -- and a few more doesn't hurt so you have plenty charged up and ready to go.

The Riva (or other brands) eGo uses the Joye 510 atomizers but has a larger battery which is cosmetically corrected for by a "cone" device which screws down over the atomizer. The cartridge, as usual, fits onto the end.

The eGo is a manual press-to-activate battery and the button glows when it's active. (Do not press for longer than 10 seconds to avoid overheating.) The battery lasts for many hours, perhaps 8 or 10 or 12 depending on your use. Batteries recharge to full in about 2-3 hours.

Refill the cartridge "filters" with drip-top bottles of e-juice. Flavor range is enormous.

They also have a manual button as well as an automatic. The automatic batteries have a tendency to die quicker due to juice getting down the battery hole that contains the sensor. My recommendation is to go with a manual battery on any model that you choose but the choice is there for you to make and decide upon.

Riva and eGos are similar but different. The Riva comes in 510 or 901 threading and has a 750mah battery. eGo's are 510's with a 650mah battery. Both units will last a heavy hitter for 4 hours or so.

Both Riva's and eGo's have a cutoff built in at 10 seconds. Basically, it stops functioning until you release the button, after 10 seconds of use.

LOL, Gambler is what I use to smoke before I switched to rolling pipe tobacco, so I feel ya, but personally, I'd take some rolled up gambler shake before the Gamucci ANY DAY- At least that gives a decent hit!

@WomanOfHeart Thank you! That was exactly what I needed to know, and it enabled to start seriously searching for a replacement. While I wanted to build a custom unit, it seems cheaper to just start off with a kit, and right now I'm debating between a 901 manual and a 510 auto[both priced about $30]. The reviews seem good, but since I now know what parts are interchangeable, if I don't like how one works I figure I can just upgrade it later[not expecting perfection for $30, ya know?]. Also, I'm the type of person who like to work while I smoke, so the hands-free convenience of an auto may be necessary for me. I'll search this site for more info on the 510 Vs. 901 debate.

@Everyone Else Ok, ok! I'm done trying to defend my frustration with the 5-post rule! I'm sorry I mentioned it- like I said, I understand the intent and still think this is a great forum! Can we please drop it now and focus on what's important? NICOTINE! >:D

Nah-it keeps the spammers out. No need to make new threads. Just respond to some of the threads that are already out there. Or, just respond here in this thread.
After five posts and a software update you can go add your positive/negative comments to the Gamucci thread. If you look hard enough most all pv's have good and bad experiences listed. We all have differing taste!
So come on back and post here a couple times and get the good/bad experience posted over in that other thread.

Nice post HZ

You're up to three! Only 2 more to go! LOL.

Do yourself a favor and skip the automatic batteries. They've been very unreliable and are not capable of being used for dripping. If you want decent battery life, pick up a $30 Riva kit from Liberty Flights and don't look back.

I'm not a Riva fan but PV model is a personal preference. Whatever works best for you is what you should use.
The part about skipping auto batteries is pretty sound advice. A lot of people love autos, but I prefer the control that a manual battery provides. Another reason manual batteries are better IMO- when you flood your atty, cart or carto all you have to do is blow it out and clean the threads and battery connector. There is no worrying about smoking the battery with ejuice.

But I'm so lazy! D-:< I don't want to have to press a button! Hah, I'm just kidding. Well, no, I'm not, I really am that lazy, but I may have to reconsider getting an automatic now. What's so unreliable about them? And I checked out the Riva kit. Looks good, though the liquid at this place seems a lil pricey.
