I got a 510 a little over a week ago and I am VERY happy with it. A couple days ago, I got some new liquid flavors and some blank carts. I don't seem to be getting as good results with refilling the blanks as I got with the prefilled. I also tried my own filler - polyfil and teabags - and those results were even worse. Also, with the blanks that I've filled myself, I sometimes get leakage. Not a lot, but a drop or two in my mouth is enough to really irritate me! I'm sure this is something that I'm doing wrong, but I don't know what it would be. The flavors are SO much better than the not-so-great prefilled stuff. I really want to make this work. Any suggestions?

It takes some practice to stuff and fill a cart so it works right.
If youre getting it in the mouth then you have over filled the cart usually.

What I do is take a paper towel and blot the top of the cart where you have filled it at to absorb a little of the juice. This seems to work pretty good.

The 510 cart doesnt hold much and it is easy to overfill.

In the end it just takes patience and practice to get it down.

Don't forget to drip 1 or 2 drops on your atty before you place your cart back in the atty as to prime the atty..

I've switched to a "shamwow" type of filler - a copycat version that's cheaper. Two small strips cut to fit - do not roll or fold. I haven't had a mouthful of juice since, holds a ton of juice and vapes really well. Be sure to prewash the fabric in hot a couple of times before using. If it starts to get dry, you can use a tweezers to remove, flip over to the wetter side and keep vaping.

Weren't you listening to Vince!?!? 8-o

Beware of imitators! Oh and shamwow totally isn't an imitator of every shammy everywhere, that's just a common misconception. heh.

Shammy material is made of viscose rayon. Pyramid teabags are made of nylon. Pretty much the same thing, except rayon is part synthetic/part natural occuring fibers and nylon is completely synthetic.

I haven't had any burning problems. The only quirk is if you don't cut it to the right size, consistsnt inhaling can make the material get sucked toward the mouth end and away from the atty. I just pull it back into place or cut slightly longer pieces.

I top off a lot less with the shammy filler & I'm very happy with the vapor produced. My husband prefers the draw of the filler with a coffee stirrer mod, but he ends up topping off more than I do.

Yeah, I know that. Billy Mays offered the Zorbeez years earlier, but the ShamWow was the hit that spawned a bunch of inferior shammy product copycats.

How well does that wick with the atty? I've tried teabags and fluval, but have always had less than satisfactory results.
Give it a shot, it's cheap enough! And you only use a tiny amount. Just be sure to cut it long enough that it doesn't get sucked away from the atty. And don't roll or fold it - that makes it too dense. I cut two pieces as long and as wide as the atty. Once they suck up the liquid, they fill in the remaining space.

Here's what I do when I notice a drop off in the length of vapping sessions or, any other unsatisfactory performance while vapping. I vape a whole lot, from dusk till dawn and longer. When things aren't working the way I expect them to, it could mean a few different things. My suggestions are as follows;

First, make sure you've got your technique down. From what I've heard and my own personal experience, there's a learning curve. I wouldn't bother messing around with any sort of mods until you've really gotten to know your 510 in and out.

Second, maintenance. People say to soak your attys in all sorts of crazy stuff, some things work and others I wouldn't want to try. That's just me though. Simplest way to keep things clean in my opinion is to let your attys drain over night and use canned air in the morning to blow em' out. Make sure to blow out ALL the holes, the big hole on the battery end and the two little ones under the threads. For good measure blow through the cart side as well. Don't forget to drip the bridge before usage.

Also, keep your connections clean. Use a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol on both the atty and battery. Clean all the threads thoroughly and anything thing else that makes contact between the battery and the atty.

Lastly, as far as refilling and topping off. You're just going to have to keep on trying 'till you get it down and you will. Kent C gave me a few videos that helped me out a lot when I first got my 510.

Video : InnoVapor, The Finest in Personal Vaporizers

Here's another for good measure. Always good to have as much knowledge as possible when using any sort of electronic device.

Charging lithium-ion batteries

Hope this helps, happy vapping :)

-Kristin, I really enjoyed your article. It was very concise, thoughtful and a great read. As far as publishing goes, have you tried contacting Matt Salmon (salmonbetterway@gmail.com)? He is the president of the Electronic Cigarette Association. Here's his youtube video;

Just to let you know that I am/was absolutely pants at filling the carts too, but, just this weekend I've made a lot of progress.....so it is a case of try and try again probably?
TBJesus...the first link to Innovapor is fantastic. I've watched all of (Scot's?) video's on the Intellicig site and Yutube but these maintenance vids are way more precise and easy to understand.
siap....My intellicig is my favourite cig for taste, feel etc but it was THE worst ever for getting a moutfull of juice and it really put me off the e-cigs. As well as cleaning it like innovapor shows you how to, the intellicig co also told me to blow hard through the cartridge so that any loose drops would come out onto a paper towel. Does work better after that.
My 510....hated it to start with - but- discovered Red Bull flavour drops - WOW! Now even getting used to their tob flav carts because I still get a lil taste of the red bull if I put a tob cart on after a red bull one. It gets a bit sickly after a while but i'ts really helped me enjoy the 510 a lot more and it could soon be taking my no.1 fav spot.

I tried this and wasn't very impressed, honestly. I took that cart out and left it on the counter for a couple days. Then, surprisingly, my husband picked it up, stuck it in his ecig and vaped for the rest of the day. HE was impressed! I'm going to try it again.
