With my local stores. Don't get me wrong I am glad they are there. I just don't get it. I understand putting the liquids in low end clearo but can't the change the heads out? I went to a nice shop today. First time there had a great selection. Tried the juice and every one was just about empty and each was burnt as hell. This seems to be how it is in every shop. I am sure I would of walked out with more than what I went in there with if the samples had been vapable. Just so disappointed. The best part of a shop is getting to try it before you buy it. As much as some of these are I just hate to waste the money on something I won't like.

Will your local B&Ms let you taste via dripping? If so, buy yourself a cheap dripping set up and use that to taste test. Even those old school dripping cartomizers will do the trick.

Did you tell them you were getting dry hits and are interested in their product? If not, they might have been happy to fill up some tanks. If yes, then hey ... they'll lose business in the end with that attitude.

Here's what I would do - try it, and then say something like,
"Excuse me, all these juices taste burnt as hell is there any way you can change the heads out for me?
Also can you refill the level on the clearo? It's almost out of juice. Thank you so much!"

The overhead for a B&M is higher than the internet. Soo, hiring has to be as cheap as possible. I would bet that they didn't know how to prepare juice/basic vaporizer. Or, if someone did, they weren't checking.

The shops that seemed the best, were large shops or shops run by the owner.

It really is a shame....I have the same problem.....seems like their in-store juice is crap, and the brand name juice is way over-priced.

I spend a lot of money on mods, juice, coils, wire, etc..... now its all online.

If the owners/management aren't willing to train their employees that might not know the product before being hiring they don't deserve to stay in business honestly. Most small B&Ms are generally run by a small group of fellow vapers around here though.

And I certainly don`t want a bite off the last burger some other guy taste tested, :?(

I buy what I think I`ll like and if I don`t like it, I don`t buy it again. I try to keep my expectations low, and my serenity high.

No one forces vape shops to allow people to sample juices, it's just become customary in this market and frankly a smart business model. It's worth giving out a free few drops of eliquid that cost less than a penny to make if it can help make a $10+ sale.

There's plenty of mom n' pop food and bakery shops that give out free samples ... many of those places having the most loyal customer bases. Businesses wouldn't give out free sample if it wasn't financially beneficial.

I don't know a single person who has 1 bottle of juice it's usually more like 20 unless of course one doesn't like variety. Even at $10 a bottle that ends up being $200 +, do I want to try it first? Yes.

I understand the generalization that you're making here, but it doesn't quite work. You still have a general idea of what a burger tastes like when you order one.

Liquid is a completely different thing all together. What one vendor calls raspberry and another calls raspberry can be vastly different to the point of one or neither tasting like the named berry.

When it is less expensive to order online vs. B&M, what is my motivation for buying in store instead of only doing it in an emergency situation? The primary reason I believe in stores having a slight advantage in this market is the ability of people being able to come in and try before they buy so they don't have a box of unwanted flavors like I have sitting here. If that's how it's going to work I'll save my money by purchasing online only.

Low Bob's Discount tobacco here in town has a decent selection of juice and they let you try it. The problem is the vapes they use for the tasting are rather crappy. They got tanks and heads for each flavor though. Just their kind of crappy compared to what I got. So it is hard to get a good taste of the juice. Take my Hawk Sauce from Mt. Baker I bought from there. It tasted alright in theirs. But amazing in mine. There were others I tried but couldn't even really get a good taste of the juice though because of how crappy their equipment was. So the quality of the gear they let you use effects the taste of the juice as well. It can be rather disappointing though.

Well I think that a shop should use a clearo they can rebuild the heads in. For instance I know I can rebuild kanger heads. So if I had a shop I would require each employee to rebuild say 5 to 10 heads per shift. (depending on how many employees and how man juice samples I had) then part of the opening staffs job would be to replace heads and refill tanks. Of course depending on how low they were. You are already paying them so why not. Most of the time I go in a shop they are all just sitting around anyways. Might as well right? Just makes sense to me. If you are in any other retail shop you have to stock and keep things nice and neat. The shop I went into the guy working was sitting at the bar watching TV when I walked in. He did get up and greet me and talk to me but instead of sitting there he could of been making sure things were good to go. Then again I am old and was just told by my boss that I needed to understand young people don't have the same work ethic as us and we had to learn how treat them to get what we wanted. I say fire them til you find the right one, but what do I know?

Damn straight!! Most of 'em think they are entitled to have everything they want. I see 'em all the time. A sorry lot that has been spawned, for the most part. You are right though. The onus is on the shop owner. You keep the shop clean, stock filled and ready and no sitting and staring at their Glowing Rectangles. Crack that whip, shop owners!!
