hi all, this is my second day vaping and so far so good. i have a question though. So far I have tried two flavors that came with the kit. One tabacco and one strawberry. i find both of them vary harsh....more harsh than an analog for sure. I think both these flavors are PG. i have bought some VG and I am waiting for my Lorann flavors. I was wondering if the VG is less harsh and does it have a different flavor than the PG?
i am also pretty disappointed with these flavors in general. the tabacco just does not taste like an analog but I guess thats normal since I am not burning anything. The strawberry is also not so great. I was hoping that the fruit flavor would be a little more realistic and stronger. Are my expectations to high?

Hey Dj, yeah tobacco flavors will never come close to an analog. If the PG flavors you have are to harsh dilute them down with VG. VG can be bought at Bakeries or just about any where. VG doesn't provide as thick a cloud as PG does but it will cut down on the harshness. I recommend if you're dripping your own carts to make a mix of 20% VG and 80% PG and see if that cuts the harshness down. If not, slowly increase the VG percentage and decrease the amount of VG. Your expectations are just a little high. All the flavors are never going to be as strong as you imagined. I suggest buying some PG from different companies because they all have a different taste to them. Don't get your hopes up in finding a flavor that tastes like an analog because that is near impossible. Fruit flavors usually won't be as strong as you expect but if they're to harsh dilute them down with some VG or vanilla PG. Hope that helps!

Here's an excerpt from the thread linked in my signature below...

PG versus VG juices
PG is propylene glycol and VG is vegetable glycerin.
Either of these ingredients can be purchased relatively cheaply and easily by themselves.
They can be used for making your own liquid if desired. or for cutting juice you have purchased.

As far as differences go, this is what I have gathered from reading things here and there.

1) VG is thicker (more viscous)
2) VG vaporizes at a lower temperature
3) VG produces better vapor
4) VG is somewhat sweeter

Because of the above...

1) VG does not wick quite as well
2) VG may gunk up your atomizer more quickly
3) VG produces a somewhat cooler vapor which may reduce throat hit

As far as the flavor of the juice, everyone is different.
People are going to tell you that you will start to taste things better soon enough.

Personally, I still can't stand any of the fruit flavors.
And I've been especially disappointed in strawberry flavors.

But I love things like Butterscotch and English Toffee and Coffee.

And yeah, if you get good juice it should taste the way it is supposed to.

I ordered cherry from Cloud9...it tasted like strawberry. I'm not in to strawberry, but if I had been--I would have bought more cherry.

As far as harsh goes, I'd do like he said and cut mine down. I buy 24mg nicotine juice--it's too high for me so I get some of that 80/20 mix from CIGNOT and cut mine to 6mg or 8mg--that smooths it out a lot but at the lessening of the throat hit.

I smoked VS ultra light 120's - 2 packs a day for 34 years. I am a heavy vapor and have been using 100% VG since January. I find it much smoother and I still have 2 of my original 901 atomizers, I have never lost any of 401's. Everybody has different experiences with the juices. I have been using Ecopure fresh with a little menthol for a while and really am liking it. I've found I really don't care for the fruity or sweet flavors, I found them harsh.
Good Luck! Hang in there! And you will find your own way of doing this ecig thing.

It's also possible your body doesn't tolerate PG very well. A significant portion of the population is allergic to the stuff (anywhere from 10%-50% depending on who you ask). You may be confusing throat hit with your throat saying "get this ***** off of me". You could also be draining your cart & then getting burnt atomizer. I would try direct dripping to eliminate cart issues & if the problem persists, ordering some vg based juice and see if that works better for you. As DC mentioned, VG is thicker than PG so you may want to water it down a little or if you want to add throat hit, thin it with everclear. You'd mentioned Lorann's. I hate to tell you this, but it has PG in the "artificial flavoring & colorings". The amounts are low enough that it shouldn't be an issue unless you're really allergic to the stuff, but you may want to consider another company for future flavor orders.

Both PG and VG will dry your throat out, and take most people a few days or a week to get used to. Try sipping something when you vape or suck on a lemon drop until you get used to it. And drink more water than normal.

A lot of people get a sore throat at first, I had a bad one for a week when I started vaping.

Also, when asking questions, always let us know where you got the liquids and what device you're using. Makes a big difference.
