When you least expect it.
I had just connected the TS and AFS after refilling it with my favorite night time flavor.
I turned in my chair a little bit and accidentally knocked the desk with my knee. I knew instantly that something bad had started to happen.
Faster than /the blink of an eye
*Smack*
My GG had fallen over and now lay in 2 pieces. Snapped at the adapter.

I don't have a clue how I'll fix it, the adapter's threads are frozen.

It looks like I'll have to go back to my 901 pen styles until I can afford to take it to a machine shop.

Easy fix Mike my friend. But you have to order a new GG connector from Rob.
1) Uscrew the broke connector from AFS
2) Unscrew the broke connector from GG
3) order a new one and put it on GG

ps....... dont go on a machine shop because if they make you a new connector you will pay huge money buddy

The connector pieces won't unscrew, they're frozen. :(
I was thinking that the machine shop might have a reversing tool, to mechanically unscrew them with more force than my hands can make.

Hi Mike, The same thing happened to me. If you can hold the pieces in a vice without marking them you can get the broken connector out.
1, Take as much as you can apart and remove the center pin.
2, Hold one piece in a vice and using a small flat blade screwdriver and hammer carefully from right to left tap out the broken connector until you can grasp it with pliers and unscrew it. This is easier to do than explain try to catch either the rough edge (where the connector snapped) or the inside edge of the broken connector. Brass is soft and you only need a small notch for this to work. Daz

AFS was made for all mods out there and maybe its heavy for GG's connector so you have to take care. GG's connector is thin because its 2 side threaded and its ok for atomizers and gendle use of AFS. No other cig has the 4 in 1 connector option so AFS will work ok for them. But now I am making the AFS for GGTS that is threaded on the GG body so no worries.

Hey Mike..bummer about this disaster! I'm wondering though..since you posted the "Aesthetic Mod" is that how the connector was setup when it broke? Do you think this contributed to the failure or would it have been worse without it snugged down close? I'm curious because my GGTS will be here probably today or tomorrow and I do plan to use the AFSv2 with it and was considering trying your mod to get the sleekest look.

Imeo, Thanks for the explanation, I was not complaining though (we should be more careful with our works of art) I was just trying to help Mike out. I now have a spare connector just in case and I am planning to buy at least 1 GGTS AFS, it looks awesome. DAZ :toast:

Mike..btw..I'd take apart both pieces as much as possible first.then spray with WD-40 to maybe loosen it some.

Then on GGTS side..I'd try a very small pair of needle nose pliers and just gently work it loose. It's probably just jammed a bit.

On the AFS side..there is a tool called a Grab-It(or other similar tool) for backing out stripped screws and bolts..I'd think a gentle use of that..using hand tools vs drills should free the inner adapter piece.

Just remember it's brass..no heat..and be gentle.

And if you still can't get it..I'd take it to a jeweler rather than a machine shop...been in a machine shop lately? It's nasty dirty place...not somewhere you want your GGTS for sure...LOL!

Nope, I put it back to the normal configuration before it broke. But I think everything would have survived if the AFS were sunken in.

The adapter is a marvel of brass machining, it is much stronger than I make it it to be. It broke only because I was clumsy and let it fall, I'm not blaming the GG for breaking.

The broken screw and bolt removers like Grab-it are essentially large drill bit tips with revrse threading, and probably wouldn't work on a hollow tube. I'm in my car now but I'll see what I can do when I get home.

But it was made in a machine shop, right?
When do jewelers work on brass threading? ;)

dang..mike..you made me go out to the shop in this bloody heat! I got my Grab-it set and the #4(largest) will work using the remover end. It should let you "bite" into the adapter just enough to free it without having to drill anything.

And yeah..GGTS was probably made in a machine shop..but I'll bet it's as clean as a jeweler's...the machine shops around here(out in the country) have so much soot and axle grease..I wouldn't take my GGTS in the place..even if it stayed in my pocket..LOL!

Good luck bud...:)

If it was in "aesthetic mod" it would not broke Wolf

I forgot to add I also use the "Aesthetic Mod" now but I have put a thin rubber shim between the AFS and GGTS cap (I can tighten the AFS without scratching the cap) so I don't think a short fall will do any damage now. Daz

I didnt see it as a complain buddy, no problem:)

What you did will avoid those cracks in future! Nice move:toast:

GGTS has a broken connector as I see it so he needs to unscrew the connector from the bottom of the cap. Connector is useless now Wolf. Mike, please keep the cap with left hand and try to unscrew the connector with a key or pliers with your right hand by a very strong and quick move

GGTS where in this dirty place before, so maybe it would like it buddy!!

Imeo!! don't mess with my GGTS vision like that!! ROFL!! I fondly remember all the wonderful silver jewelry I watched and helped my dad make(I had to do all the polishing!). I can't help but look at the GGTS/AFS and picture those days! I know it all starts in the machine shop..but once it's left the lathes and the mills...it ceases to be machinery and definitely bumps up to jewelry level finishing!
