After some trial and error I seem to have got it right!
I'm not sure which of these changes has solved it, but the combination I've got is:

28g Kanthal 1.4ohm 2.5mm non-contact coil.
Coil is 1mm off of airflow hole
Coil is not straight across but rather angled across deck
I took the cotton sheet, removed the top layer and tore about 3mm width off
Cotton is touching deck base, just.

All working well so far.

Update from me:
I'm about ready to give up on this tank. If it's not dry hitting, it's flooding or leaking. I Thought the leaking would be due to flooding which it does with no encouragement. I therefore put a 3mm coil in with plenty of Rayon, not so much it was tight but just right as per kayfun builds etc. it is not currently leaking but I am getting the occasional dry hit for no apparent reason. I'm no expert in rebuildables but in comparison to my Kayfun lite+ this is one fussy tank.
I have ordered a lemo and if it's as good as they say, this delta 2 won't be out again.

I need your help plz!

So here it is. I have been using this Delta II tank for about 1 week now and I can't seem to get it right!
Basically what happens is that regardless of coil ohms and wattage setting, I have to "get my tank going (lol)" before it tastes good and not burny.
Right now I have in a 1.2ohm coil and am at about 14W (earlier today was at about 10W). The first like 4 draws seem to have a burnt taste and not very enjoyable.
After that, it starts to taste better, then fine, then good. So this makes me think that the wick is working well since after I get it going it doesn't taste bad at all.
The longer I let it sit, the longer it takes to get it to taste good again. I have tried the airhole at 100, 75, 50, and about 10% open. Taking deep draws.

Does a flooded coil taste burnt?
Do the wicks that are not working well need to get heated up to be able to wick properly?
Is my wick drying out because I keep the whole unit standing upright on my desk?

Hate the taste at first, love it when it gets going....
This frustration is making me want a ..... stick arrrrg

Thank you for your advice...
G

ps. I tried making the wick fill up most of the space in the RBA (didn't work) and also tried trimming that same wick down a good amount (still no joy)...

Am I not correct by saying that the Delta II can only be set in-between 20-40 watts? I was under the impression one could not be vaped at anything less than 20 yet he mentions it is set at 17w on his?
