I'm fairly new around ECF and don't know if this site has been mentioned before, or if I'm allowed to link to it. But there is a website containing tobacco documents - all of the data from studies done by the tobacco companies (they were forced to make them public as part of a settlement). I found on the website some research on how to disguise the taste of nicotine in aqueous solution, vaporized in a nebulizer.
One interesting thing noted was that nicotine evaporates incredibly quickly. A sample of 24mg nicotine solution evaporated to just 2mg nicotine in 17 hours. Something to note if you're steeping liquids in an uncovered bottle.
The results for disguising the nic flavor were - tartaric acid worked the best, then malic acid, followed by sucrose and propylene glycol (but these two required more to mask the taste). Bitter and sour flavors had the least effect.
So... if the taste of nic bugs you, maybe some tartaric acid will help.
