Disgusting Burnt Metal Taste From Provari?

Hello:

I have a Provari V2 with a Kanger Pro Tank, and everything has been pretty good these first few weeks.

However, just a few days ago, I started tasting this incredibly horrible, burnt metallic taste while vaping. It occurs with any flavor I try, from 4 different vendors, so it is not the e-liquid.

It has also happened @ pretty much any volt level I try...4.0, 4.2, 4.9....all across the board.

I have 2.5 ohm heads for the Pro Tank, so they should be able to handle those voltages, right?

The taste is not subtle. It is beyond disgusting, and so strong. It consumes the entire flavor...not just a hint of it, but the full flavor is this gut-wrenching taste.

The Provari head/heater/coil thing smells exactly like what the flavor tastes like, and it is enough to almost make me sick.

I did spill a bit of caramel e-juice down into the provari coil (thing that heats up, not sure if it is called a coil) recently...could this be it?

Should I send it back to be fixed? Or is this a problem that someone could help me with here?

Thanks so much in advance.

Oh also, I'd like to add that I searched the internet for an answer to this, and I could only find people who said they tasted a slight metal taste that some people even said they enjoyed. This is most definitely NOT the same issue as theirs, as what I am tasting is the equivalent to smoking a crankshaft.

It is not the mod it is the atomizer if anything.

Mods do not cause flavor issue (unless it is a voltage issue but that would be on the users side of things). Unless the mod is putting out max voltage all the time which is easily testable with a voltmeter.

Most likely it is you atomizer/cartomizer being gunked up or the material inside it is directly on the coil.

The heads also come stock with a flavor wick laying over the coil. I was having the same problem and I saw a YouTube video that said to take it out to stop that. I did and its been smooth sailing. The little metal piece that sits over coil can be popped off (by hand or with needle nose) and just pull the flavor wick. Might want to give it a shot before changing heads. Hope that helps.

First, stop licking your Provari.

Second, drop your voltage. These Kanger coils don't like or need high voltages unless they are getting closer and closer to a needed dry burn.

Third, have you cleaned any of the coils that have been in use? Have you done a dry burn to clean them?

Fourth, what liquids are you using? Some flavors can kill a coil faster than others.

Hey all:

So sorry for going MIA on this post.

I ended up trying out dripping with my 510 Atomizer to see if the problem resided in the ProTank or in the Provari.

Turned out, I loved the flavor and smoke output from dripping so much better than I put the ProTank aside and haven't touched it since.

I did try cleaning the Protank, as well as the heads (I have about 7 heads, some only used once), and I was still getting the taste.

I performed a dry burn on 2 of the heads, as well as cleaning them out with hot water. However, I did not try anything with alcohol yet, so I'll certainly give that a shot.

After the clean, I'll lower the voltage per Rickajo's suggestion. Btw, I am using Heather's Dragon's Fire and AVE Boba's Bounty.

I will try some of the other suggestions you guys had for me and get back to you once I find out the verdict.

Thanks so much for all of your help!
