Protank 2 tastes like metal!

Why does my tank taste like metal noatter the flavor? This is after using the coil for several days or when it is new as well. I have even rebuilt some coils and still everything has a faint metal taste. I think im gonma give up and go back to my boge's. I love them just hate to fill over and over through the day amd cant get a carto tank that doesnt flood out all the time.

I kmow these tanks have to work because too many members here love them according to their posts. What am I doing wrong.

At this time I have a protank 2 with a 1.8ohm coil set at 3 volts on my provari mini and still tasting metal

Have you washed your ProTank prior to the first use? Some of them arrive reeking of something oily and disgusting. I wash them with warm water and a little dishwashing detergent.

I don't taste any metal in mine, but I've seen several posts complaining about this issue.

Are you using the drip tip that came with your tank? Have you tried using your own delrin (or any other plastic or acrylic) drip tip? Maybe you're sensitive to that metal mouthpiece?

You have to clean it with hot water, the taste will go away. I taste went away after the second fill on my protank.

Took me a while to deal with that.
I tried a LOT of things - HERE'S THE FIX.
Wash it (not the coil, but the rest of it) with hot SOAPY water.
Not vodka, not boiling, only SOAP will get off whatever coating they come with.
Then you'll be good!
Your juice will no longer taste like WD40!

What they said, give it a good bath. They can leave nasty stuff like machine oil while manufacturing it.

I actually have a G50.
It's interesting, but has airflow problems.
It needs the air channels cut in the base like a real ProTank has, and/or should come with this "collar".
I can't use it much til I get one of those...

I use Pro tank with 1.9 ohm 3 volt setup DIY RY4 juice, whenever my juice flavor changes I add a drop of Apple Cider Vinegar to RY4, brings backs flavor for me. I find this also keeps the coil and wick clean. Suggest to add two drops per 10 mil less is better until you find what works for you.

The only time that any of my cartos in tanks have flooded is when I took too deep draws (lung hits). I use the Smoktech pyrex DCTs with Boge pre-punched XL LRs. Also, don't overfill the tanks, that will flood them for sure. I washed my Protank 2 and never have had a metal taste. Good luck and have fun!

Citrus flavors can also adversely enhance sensitive taste buds. Metals become more pronounced.

crxess is right--citrus flavors and other liquids known to crack plastic tanks can also react with materials in glass systems and produce funky flavors. The only way I've been able to enjoy a 7up flavored liquid is to drip it, and that's too much hassle for me.

I can't find the link right now, but as I recall it's the citric acid in some flavorings that causes this. Cinnamon candy flavors are also known to produce weird results based on the devices they're used in.

I have 6 protank II that I use with many different juices. I use 2.2 ohms from witch I remove 1 wick and install that on 3Go V3 Spinners.

I did get that metal taste the first time but like many other suggested, I cleaned them up and replaced all my heads to get clean whips and ouala !!!!!.. on about 4 volts, no more metal taste, no gurgle, no dry hit and since the eG0 V3 Spinner has a 10 second fail safe, neither of us has add the metal taste or burned taste from a dry hit.

Could be the mystery metal the drip tips are made out of. I can taste metals that aren't stainless, so threw out the stock drip tips and replaced them with medical grade stainless and delrin ones made in the US.

Yep, i too had the metal taste in both the PT 2 and the PT 2 minis. I was too impatient and wanted to try them straight outta the box. After i washed them and gave a quick swab through the central tube, it was mostly gone. Then i replaced the drip tip with the plastic one from the vivi nova and the metal taste was gone for good!
