So i have a couple dead e cigars from my recent wedding that im going to mod. They were actually really cool. Ive got one torn apart, will get pics up later, and now i have the hollow plastic paper wrapped cigar tube. Ive got a massive debate in my head as to which way to take this. the easiest and quick way to do it, which is still on top of my list, is to get a mega xl 510 auto batt and secure it inside the tube. this way, i have the functionality i want, with a rechargable battery, changable cartos, and all that jazz. oh yea and a red led for the end ;). i can secure a drip tip to the cigar mouthpiece with a little glue so it fits the carto when pushed on, which i will probably do for any of these options.

second route, is a ego. my coworkers ego-T fits nicely inside. I was thinking of an ego-C to spice it up a little. would be cool. would have to make the ego removable, or find a setting that i like. for either the 510 or ego route i plan on using some plastic like packing foam to put inside the tube and hold the battery in place. that way if it breaks, the tube gets messed up, i can remove the battery w/o any trouble. another issue with the ego is i would have to make a hole for the button on the ecigar tube, and maybe extend the button or make the hole big enough for a finger to press it.

last and most unlikely option i will do is a 14500 mod. it can be done, but is a lot more complicated. ive built plenty of mods but this one will not be an everyday vaper. going to use it on an upcoming vegas trip, and maybe will bust it out for partys and special occasions.

let me know what you guys think and if youve got any questions on my ideas! i'll try and get some pictures posted tonight of the tube and parts

510 Auto switch all the way! With no button you can pass that Cigar to a newb. closer to being a real Cigar, No? - You didn't post pics or the inner dimensions your working with but for fun little mods something like this 510 Auto bat can be inserted into some cool items, lol. SD KEY RING

haha that little key ring is awesome! The dimentions are i want to say roughly 3/4" ID. Can easily fit an ego with a 3.5ml tank with a little room on the outside to spare. the 510 auto batt will be pretty sweet because it will still have the LED on the front and give it more of a real cigar look and feel.

Pics are here! i wouldnt exactly call it a good cigar mod, like the title of the thread says, i started with a disposable and am turning it into a rechargeable mod. so lets call it the "quick and dirty" cigar mod. I dont have my 510 mega XL auto batteries yet, will be here in a few days, but here are pics of the tube, parts, and a size comparison to a standard 510 auto.

Started with a Veppo disposable ecigar, they work great! had the option to buy blanks so me and a few of my groomsmen who also vape could put in our own liquid. Got these at E-Cig City in Laguna Beach CA. Thanks Jason!!

Here is the exploded view of the tube and the stock insides.

Here is a shot of the cigar put together, and one with the "mouthpiece" removed.

A shot down the barrel, and of the mouthpiece

Here is the plan, to take a 510 mega xl auto, with a 2 ohm Boge carto, and a drip tip and put them inside of the empty tube. The pencil drawing should be the added length of the mega xl

IMAG0377.jpg

To support the battery inside the tube im going to use some of this packing foam cut to size.

IMAG0378.jpg

My plan is to secure the drip tip in the mouthpiece of the cigar, remove the clear/smoke plastic end cap covering the LED of the 510 auto, and use the foam to hold the 510 in place! should be pretty sweet. I'll let you guys know when the 510 mega xl 350mah auto batts come in and construction will begin :)

Alright guys here's the build up,

I took the foam and cut some pieces to fit around the 510, (because drilling a hole was impossible). maybe i'll redo this part and find a better solution for "supporting" the 510 inside the cigar tube, but this works for now.

Here are some pics of the mock up, the foam pieces, mega 510 and carto, and cigar tube.

just for reference, here is the mega xl 510 350mah next to a standard 510. was a lot longer than i thought it was going to be.

IMAG0383.jpg

I took the cap off the battery end so the LED would shine bright through the cigar.

IMAG0384.jpg

Wrapped the battery in the foam and taped it together so make a sleeve. This "works" but i may look for other solutions. its not a complicated process of this mod, but could probably be improved.

Had the trip the drip tip down with a dremil, the battery was longer than expected but still fits and functions like i wanted it to.

the drip tip, whats left of it, actually fit very very nicely in the end of the cigar mouthpiece. almost no glue needed to hold it in place. If you look at previous pics of the inside of the mouthpiece there is a little nipple that fits perfectly inside the end of the drip tip hole with a good press fit.

slap her together! and were vaping! :)

I hope this thread will help a few people with old dead ecigars they want to bring life back into. Or anybody like me that really wanted the look and feel of an ecigar with rechargable batteries and cartomisers!

Happy Vaping!
