I know this topic has come up a thousand times but yesterday, I was in line at a checkout at a local grocery store and as I was leaving, I glanced over and noticed an 18-21 year old vaping right in front of the cashier while he was checking out. I kept walking to my car when I told my wife I was going back in to have a word with this kid. I grabbed my MVP from the car, went back in and introduced my self as a fellow vapor and then proceeded to politely inform him that was he was doing was disrespectful and giving the rest of us a bad name. His response? "I't's not illegal".

Although he was right, it's not illegal. I informed him that he could wait five minutes to vape or ask the manager if she didn't mind him being a hipster while shopping. Again, I told him this is one reason we are getting a bad wrap. Blank stare... so I left. I had a strong suspicion that he wasn't vaping to quit his tobacco addiction but to 'look cool' while being a .... at the same time.

I smoked for 25 years and have successfully quit using e-cigs. I don not feel the need to vape inside public places as I wouldn't smoke a cig in public places.

Just had to rant. :2c:

I agree it's not respectful to vape in the store like that.

But try as I may, I'm not seeing the press stories people allude to about cloud chasers or insulting little p****ks giving vapers a bad name.

Could someone please post links to the articles, news spots, etc. that show this issue?

There are no stories it just makes vapors look arrogant and entitled which never goes over well.

LOL not being funny but no random could tell me what I can and can't do either, especially if it's not even breaking rules/law or offending the person you were concerned about. That could be down to vaping being a lot more accepted in the UK with most places allowing people to vape indoors.

I think the bigger issue is the fact that one persons actions will lead to prejudice against an entire group of people, in the UK we tend judge a**holes on an individual basis, not come across one, and label anyone alike one too smh. Each to their own, as a vaper, i still ONLY represent myself, not every other vaper, just as i don't represent every male, or Jamaican, or short sexy person lool :D

If the kid is behaving like a nit, then that's what people will see - a kid behaving like a nit. It's unlikely imho that they'll judge vaping just because he's vaping. If he was eating candyfloss and behaving like a nit then people won't say - "The candyfloss is responsible - all people who eat candyfloss are nits." They'll think "That kid's a nit." All imho, obviously. :)

Not here to argue with anyone but *I* think it's just plain ridiculous to vape while standing in line at a store.

Whether it's against the law or not - it's just disrespectful to the people around you.

Would I have said anything to the guy? Probably not.

I don't see the need to force my habit on the people around me. That's just me though....

I agree with you that it is ridiculous.... But I find it also ridiculous that people will stand in line chewing gum like a cow or bring their toddlers into a store with only a t-shirt and diaper all dirty and barefoot..
Both things I would not ever do. I would not say anything though. Now if I saw a child being treated badly or the one vaping in line was like a 12 yo. then I would say something.

Il vape in stores but only when no one's near or aisles empty. I'm not going to puff away at the register. Unless your buying the entire store your not at the register more then 5 minutes and can wait to get outside. At least he had an ego setup rather than a subohm, mainly because he probably lacks the brain cells to build a safe setup.
