Hi I am new. I have only just discovered about vaping and do not know fully about it, yet. I have been a smoker for 23 years and I am going to be 35 this year, and have tried ALL ways to quit or find better alternatives but the minute I go into withdrawal my heart become dangerously close to having a heart attack. Very angry and disappointed that SG has banned E-cigs and hope it would be lifted some day so I can try it out myself to see if it will work for me as alternative. I am curious to know if vaping actually achieves the same feelings as regular traditional cigarettes and eventually aids in quitting or at least lessens a hardcore chain-smoker's smoker's habits? Any enlightenment and help on this issue would be much appreciated. Thank you senior and all members.

There are different strengths of e-liquid that I haven't tried to the fullest, meaning high strengths like 24mg/ml and whatnot, but whenever I vape my nicotine-based e-liquids it raises my alertness in a slow kind of way. When I smoke a cigarette, it feels ten times the feeling of vaping. I get that nice light feeling and that buzz I can feel in my head. I wish I knew what strength I'm vaping so I could offer you a better judgment (probably around 8-12mg/ml).

Long story short for me: cigarettes give my that known-too-well cigarette high/buzz or light feeling, whereas vaping makes me feel more calm and alert and focused (because I'm gradually vaping every few minutes). I vape most frequently when I am working or studying (college student here).

I say you should definitely go for a vape alternative with strengths that decrease incrementally. Learn how strengths work, purchase a starter clearomizer kit, and purchase (or even make) e-liquids based on what you've found. Best of luck.

My dad smoked 2 packs a day from the time he was 18 or so to 62 which is now. He started vaping with a setup I got him with 18mg and unflavored nic base. He absolutely hated flavored e-juices and unflavored he says is close to a marlboro light taste. He hasn't touched a single cigarette in 6 weeks and doesn't have a desire to touch one. My dad has a friend. 3 packs a day since he was in Vietnam. He is 3 weeks smoke free with the same setup and e-juice my dad is using. So I believe it truly works.

Vaping doesn't quite give you the same feeling as smoking. The nic buzz comes in a bit slower when vaping. You get used to it and, after a while, most people begin to prefer it. I smoked a pack a day for seven years and the process of quitting smoking and beginning to only vape took less than a month.

As far as I can tell, vaping is the best substitute for smoking. Keep in mind that vaping is not healthy, but the lesser of the two evils.

Going by the people in this forum it clearly helps.
It is easier for people who don't have a strong connection to smoking.
Not addiction but some people see smoking as a friend in a way something they owe loyalty to.
Having a rough day then have one or anxious and have one. You need to cut feelings like that and replace the smoking with vaping.
Can take some people a little while to find their feet and others get there quickly.
It is very good though and clearly the superior alternative.

whats SG and how can they ban e-cigs. im one month tobacco free and was able to quit the same day i started vaping. i got the ego one kit. and shortly after upgraded to a subtank mini follwed by the sx mini m class cuz temp control is where its at. the juice i started with was 12mg and now im down to 6mg and not by choice. i just couldn't take all the nicotine. i would recommend the subtank mini because it can be as easy or involved as you want it to be. also i would recommend a variable wattage device up to 50 or if you got the cash the sx mini m class. the subtank only needs about 35 watts top end. also i was a half pack a day smoker so if you smoke more you might want an 18mg juice. but you do get more nicotine from the devices that put out more clouds. best of luck to you.

I struggled for 12 days before I found my nicotine level. Once I hit that I was able to put the cigs down for good, and that was only 3 months ago. I love my vape and have now reduced the nicotine almost to zero, in a painless effort.

iStick 50W and Aspire Nautilus Mini was my workhorse, now I've added the Kanger Subtank Mini into the mix.

Good luck.

Everyone has their own needs when it comes to quitting smoking and switching to vaping. For some of us, it's as simple as picking up a vaporizer. Others have had to struggle.

Although I have never tried any, I understand that a lot of folks find it is easier with liquids made with/from WTA's (Whole Tobacco Alkaloids). There are several very good discussion threads covering the how, why, and where of WTA's.

I wish you the best of luck!

Singapore. As to the how, I am ignorant of the law-making process of Singapore, so I can't comment.

I did an experiment a couple of days ago....
I noticed that when I smoke the mass produced ciggies made in USA I got the tingly face, ear ringing increase, lightheadedness...
I got a pack of American Spirit Menthol and the next morning lit one of those up... guess what... no tingles, no lightheadedness, but a tiny increase in ear ringing...
Im willing to bet that the "other" chemicals in the ciggies are the cause of the additional experiences... since AS has no additives ( other than mint/menthol) its more like vaping... just an observation :)

Hi Desperation X,

This is the first time I've posted to this forum, but your experience is similar to mine. The difference is I have access to all things vape.

I'm sure it's different for everyone, but like you, I was a 20 year smoker. I was having dental surgery and my Dr. told me not to smoke for a week. Terrific... Initially I purchased the "Blu" e-cigs from a local retail chain unaware of the vast vaping options. When the week was over, I somehow stayed off the cigs. Quitting was something I had planed to do for about 19 years, but nothing worked for me. One day I left the house without my "Blu" and ran by the same store and they had "Njoy" stocked. That was my first step into vaping, and I've never looked back. I've not even had the desire to.

Whenever I get the chance to tell a smoker about vaping, I do. It's the only thing that has worked, and I've tried EVERYTHING. Including pharmaceuticals. I haven't read the other replies, but I'm sure you've received a lot of good advice. I hope you can find a way to get vaping products. Good luck my friend.

To put it simply, I bought an Ego starter kit with some 24mg liquid, and I've not had a cigarette since - that was back in November 2013. They worked for me. I'd tried literally everything to quit prior to that day. Nothing worked for me until I started vaping. I'm now on 1mg nicotine liquid, so virtually off the nicotine too - which is nice.

It doesn't feel like smoking, so there's an initial adjustment period, which quickly passed for me. My partner can't stand the vapour and continues to smoke, so it is very much different strokes for different folks, but it's worked for a LOT of people I know. It is not a guaranteed replacement for everyone however, and it's not completely safe, but I'm in it for the harm reduction, and cost saving :)

Welcome to the forums, hope things change for you so you can find out for yourself.

For me quitting was easy. I had smoked for over 30 years and I wanted to stop. I bought my first bottle of ejuice and my last pack of cigarettes on the same day. I haven't had, or wanted to have, a cigarette in over two years.

This is exactly how it happened with me..smoker almost 30yrs @ a pack a day. The day i tried vaping was the last day i smoked a cig.

I too have attempted to quit smoking numerous times using various methods after 34 years of smoking. I truly looks like vaping is also going to be my real answer to quitting. I am finding that with vaping (over cigs), that I actually taste the flavors again, especially in the tabacco-type juices. One juice that I am using has that 'nice' smell that you get when you sniff a freshly opened pack of cigs (before you light one up), and has a light sweetness to it. I did an experiment where I opened a fresh pack. smelled that nice smell, then lit on up. Tasted nothing like the fresh pack smell at all. Then hit the vape again and the taste was right there. And I am not missing the heat of smoking a real cig. There is a LOT of differences between that taste of tobacco flavored jucie; you just have to play around a bit to get to the right one for you. And in quitting smoking, I believe you (as I did) will never look back. Good luck in your vaping journey! Hope you find it as fun as I have.

Well I am pretty high on nicotine all day and I only vape 3mg. I can definitely feel it right away. I am way past the starter-type devices though. As a negative, my vapor is quite ostentatious. But I am addicted to it, so I just try to move away from other people so as not to make a scene.

First of all. Thank you very much all of you, for taking the time to explain to me about vaping personally with your experiences, to help me out.. to come into this thread, explain your personal stories and how it was and is. Singapore is such..ban this ban that f**k it... I do not want to go backwards in my life to achieve other "highs" or buzzes where I have already quit them and they were so damn easy to kick without much issues..to be upfront. Body could handle all of that .... and the only thing remaining is regular cigarettes..which I seem to can't!

Guys, want to vape..think i don't want to try that alternative but laws are laws..can't.. I resorted to tea leaves yesterday even..didn't do a damn thing, tried green tea, black tea..etc.. like other forum peeps share their stories about it, tried it. Man....nothing but a headache at the end of the day and felt like ..... Landed up having to re-place nicotine in my system again. Patches don't work, inhalers don't work, sweets don't work, whatever man..over the years..whatever you guys can think of I tried my best.

Even while busy or work, must have that drag...im tired of it...staining up my stuff too over so many years.. Singaporeans, you know how damn fast these days the cigarettes burn man..the burn time aint the same anymore....somehow...I know it..something is not right about them anymore...either the paper or the tobacco I am not sure..maybe the leaves..whatever...and man.. the costs...f**k...I really don't know what else besides learning too late about Vaping, and I checked around for anything else..nothing.

I appreciate you guys...thank you....but nothing else around to replace..have to carry on as usual..f**k it.
