Good!

You can also minimize any potential risks by vaping without inhaling, like you'd smoke a pipe or a cigar. If that's doable, then the risks of just puffing on some nic-free tasty eliquids would be close to zero, IMO. You can even get a coffee flavored juice--for the taste of coffee without the caffeine! :D

Yeah I started this topic with the idea of ONLY Zero-nic. I'm in no way, shape or form in any position to veer in the direction of nicotine. That's just not me.

I am a 26 year old non-smoker, who grew up with a mother that smoked until I was 19 years old. I recently read that some non-smokers started vaping with 0mg nicotine liquid and I was previously told that Zero-nic still has nicotine in it. Honestly, I'm really just here to learn more about it before I decide to try zero-nic flavors.

(I should point out I have a heart defect, so I'm looking for ways to deal with stress. So, I'm not sure whether or not zero-nic is still a safe alternative as my friends claim they are.)

If you're a non-smoker, I'd advise against vaping.

Zero nicotine means zero nicotine. You can make your own 0 nicotine eliquid by buying USP grade PG and VG yourself and mixing it 50/50.
You can get the VG which is glycerin from the pharmacy including wallmart; you can get PG from farming supplies stores like Tractor Supply.

Vaping can also be expensive- another reason to stay away from it.

In most cases, I wouldn't. I really seriously would NOT consider it. I've gone this long without that much stress; but as of lately I'm living with a guy that drives me up the wall with frustration. I'm jewish and he's christian and it's one of those things that really and truly gets to me. But I'm still very conscious about the fact that Nicotine CAN kill me, if not, harm me in various ways. I don't want to think too hard about it; and I'm still looking into everyone's opinions before I make any decisions, but for now, it's still under consideration.

You said that you had a heart defect; have you gotten any medical advice about the affect of nicotine in combination to your heart condition?

The main health problem with smoking is the smoke itself, including the tar.
The nicotine itself is (a) addictive and (b) does affect heart issues.

Could you tell me the differences between the two so I'll know what I'm looking into, first?

You can vape pure PG.
Pure VG is too thick to vape on it's own (and yeah I tried myself); it sits heavy on the lungs and can be pretty scary if you already got lung problems. But VG makes more foooooooggggg; plus it has a bit of a sweet taste to it.

Some people are also allergic to PG, VG or I suppose, both.

I know that nicotine is a HUGE no for me. The fact that I was around second-hand smoke growing up and being sick all the time keeps me from looking for anything nicotine related. And I know that I'm not even going to pick up the stuff. I don't want to feel that way again. Ever. I have friends that do Zero-nic and can go weeks without it because they're not addicted. I just wanted to find something that I can do that won't harm me in a major way.

The way I look at it though; I wouldn't do it Every day. I would only use it when I get stressed out or upset. And it wouldn't be a habit, it'd just be a stress reliever. Because I'm not a drinker, but I socially drink. I've never been drunk and I count that as an accomplishment. I don't want that on my list, nor do I want death by nicotine on my list either.

You might be interested in a dripper.
No tank.
Perfect for somebody who might just want to take an occassional puff.

Just about the cheapest, simplest setup there is; and top of the line taste.
Not practical for a chainsmoker like me who wants to vape while driving of while at the keyboard.

Sounds a lot like something I would have to look into then. VG sounds safer than PG; But I guess I'm taking it from the "vegetable" in the name.

VG is a GREAT DEAL heavier on the lungs. Those with "normal" lungs don't seem to notice this, but as an asthmatic, it was clearly and PAINFULLY obvious to me; felt like a cat with a hairball.

Don't do it. If you are not an ex-smoker don't start off. Even at zero! Find some other ways to relax! Vdo games and books or talking to friends!

I've never even heard of a dripper. How are they dfferent from vaporizers?

It's just a simple atomizer without a tank;
When you need a vape, you just drip 5 or 10 drops down on the coil deck, fire up and vape away for a couple minutes, then you're done.

With the common rebuildable dripper shown above you just wrap up your own coil, put your own cotton, and vape away.
No tank to worry about, no gurgling, no dry hits really unless you forget to drip, no leaking onto the battery.
Simple, and cheap.

I keep hearing people say " we don't have research on the long term effects of vaping". I can't imagine vaping (especially 0 nic) any worse than working in a steam filled kitchen. And the steam of boiling food in water has particles in it not found in ecig vapor. Many people spend their whole lives working in steam filled kitchen with no ill effects. My friends Mom has work in a Red Lobster kitchen for over 30 years and she is healthy as a horse.

Well, vapor is not steam, and it's inhaled directly into the lungs, rather than breathed in (often through the nose) like the kitchen air.

I know that nicotine is a HUGE no for me.

Since you have friends that vape without nicotine, they can be the biggest help to get you started if that's what you decide to do.
The decision is up to you. If you feel it will help with times of stress, you will have to try it to really find out.

Here are some facts about nicotine you may not know:

It needs to be remembered that nicotine is a normal and natural part of the diet.
Everyone tests positive for nicotine in the blood and for its metabolites in the urine.
There has never been a large-scale clinical trial of nicotine where anyone tested negative for nicotine.
The last test by the CDC in the USA involved 800 subjects and all tested positive for nicotine at measurable levels, even where the subject was a non-smoker, had never smoked, and had no possible contact whatsoever with smokers, including children.

The reason for this is because many vegetables contain nicotine, and also the co-located and similar compound nicotinic acid (also known as vitamin B3 or niacin).
Tomatoes, potatoes and several other vegetables all provide dietary nicotine.
Tea often contains nicotine, which after all is one of the reasons it works as a pick-me-up.
Some vegetables such as aborigine (eggplant) contain significant amounts.
These vegetables are broadly (but not exclusively) members of the Solanaceae family, one of our most often-consumed vegetable groups.

Nicotine is a perfectly healthy, normal and natural part of the diet.
Some individuals may need more than the usual dietary quantity, as is observable for many other dietary constituents.
Just as some may need a very large supplement of 2,000mg of extra vitamin B3 (nicotinic acid) in order to normalize cognitive function, short-term memory and work capacity; so a similar increase of nicotine may be necessary for such persons.
This has been demonstrated by clinical trials that showed the positive effects on stress, work capacity, memory and cognitive function for some individuals.
Nicotine, science has shown, by itself is NOT additive.

Not trying to convince you to add nicotine, just thought you would find it interesting.
Good luck in your venture.

Slots-- nice post... Grandpa always said learn 1 new thing everyday and the day was worth having. Thanks for the knowledge :)

I've met a few people now whom have never smoked. One lady is doing it and losing weight. she said and I quote
" It calms her and she feels like she is not going to the kitchen as much as she vapes instead of eats"

I personally like vaping and believe I am planning to vape 0 nicotine even after removing the final 6mg from my flavors.
Its worth a try to see if it helps . Good Luck !!

I can tell you're not trying to convince me to add it. The fact of the matter is that I've been told by my mother, DARE teachers, and my cardiologists growing up that it would do more damage to my heart with excessive amounts than the heart defect I was born with would have caused. I'm taking in any and all perspectives of people that do vape and people that have smoked. My friend Flutters says that when she smoked, her heart raced all the time, but she didn't feel that when she started vaping. I'm not sure if that's the case for everyone here, but that's her.

The closest I've ever been to being forced into trying to smoke was a girl when I was growing up who picked on me, shoved a cigarette in my mouth and I spat it out and ran. I'm far too worried for my condition.

But you'd have to consume 43 pounds of eggplants to get the same amount of nicotine in one cigarette. Eggplants have the most nicotine of the other vegetables.

I get that part, but as a teen I worked washing dishes in a steakhouse and that room got so full of steam we sometimes had to put a fan to the window. And that's constant breathing of particle filled steam (soap, sanitizer, who knows what else) for hours on end. You vape on and off for a few minutes then put it down for a while. It would take a lot of vaping to equal an 8 hour shift washing dishes.

Not to argue the point, just food for thought.
