Wheres the throat hit? It makes tons of vapor but its like sucking straight air. I even dripped some 36mg Marlboro and it still didn't do much in the TH dept.

Is this just the nature of the 510? If so I'd take my 901 atty/KR8 batt combo anyday.

It's all pretty subjective, brandon. Not everyone likes the same thing. I have a 510 and kr8, and I find the 510 is now like sucking air, too. But someone else would disagree.
I say, go with that works for YOU!!

I have several 510s all ready to vape at anytime. At different times some of them just don't work as good as others. I will get one that produces lots of vapor and has a good throat hit but then another one does work as good. To me its a hit and miss situation. Of course my mods do the same thing. I don't understand why or how this happens but it just does. Not all ecgs will produce at 100% all of the time.

Maybe try something with more power.
A Silver Bullet can be switched between 6 or 3.7V, so can the Super6.

Also, (cheaper solution) you could try a BE112 (801) passthrough.

I think the BE112 attys are the best in the industry, but that is just my opinion. I have just about every atty and cartomizer and cart on the
    market.
The BE112 passthrough I have does not have a in-line batt, like the 510,
but the BE112 cart hold TONS more juice that anything out there, and the
    attys are very well made.
The vapor I get from the 112 pass is almost the same as w/ a 5V PV,
only problem is you have a wire sticking out of your e-cig.

I do like the Joye 510, but would recommend something with more hoursepower for you, esp since you are vaping tobacco flavor juice, which
tends to vape better with a 5 or 6V PV to get that real "throat hit".

If for some reason you want to stick with 3.7V, maybe your favorite juice
tastes better at 3.7, the eGo is the best PV. Consistent hits, lots of vapor, and the batt lasts a long time. Only problem is, the batt is special
    made and expensive.

I think the best is the Silver Bullet or Super6 because they are versitile and can quickly switch from low to high volts in seconds just with a battery change :) and the batts are easy to find and cheap to buy.

Try one and I know will will love it, either one (the SB is considerably cheaper though!).

I have to agree. I've been using the RN4075 (which is like the 901) and decided to get a 510 to see what all the fuss was about. I don't know if I'm just used to the 4075, but I found that the 510 is like drawing air as well. I've tried a few different juices and it doesn't seem to make a difference. Maybe it would've been different if it was the first model I tried, but it has been relegated to being the back up in case of 4075 failure.

Yep.. My 510 is definetly my backup. I carry two PVs on me at work and my first choice is either my KR8 w/ Cartos or 901 Atty/KR8 batt

So when the KR8 gets hot I switch to my 510. It does produce massive amounts of vapor, but it seems like a real fine mist compared to the denser vapor I get off my 901 attys

Oh well, I think you guys are right... it might be time for some higher voltage vaping.

Boyfriend was not impressed with the 510, he still just sucks on it a couple times and tosses it back to me pronouncing "didn't get anything".

He's still on the analogs ... we've got a bottle of Halo Newpure waiting for his DSE905 "screwdriver" mod and now he's looking at maybe getting a sidesho kit too.. (he's all about finding the perfect atty)

Meanwhile, I'm okay with my 510, waiting for delivery of a 901 kit, and then play it by ear.

I wasn't the heavy smoker, and am not a heavy vaper, so we have different needs - but I can see where my bf is going to end up being a tinkerer, trying to get the max TH and vapor that replicates his beloved (non-light) menthol 100s

As you'll hear a million times, you'll never get something that tastes exactly like an analog. that said, I get better throat hit off 510's, generic or original, than off of 901's. But I get more flavor from 901's. A 4075 (901 lookalike, sometimes sold as a 901) is a reasonable balance between the two for me.

That said, dripping 1-2 drops straight Marlboro right on the atty should give you a decent throat hit and flavor. It may not be as strong as you want, but it Definitely should not be like you are just breathing in air.

Your atty could be flooded (blow it out and redrip), it could be broke. Does it get warm when you draw a few times? 510 attys run hot, so if it doesn't noticeably increase in temp, either you have a bad connection to your battery (clean the connectors on both battery and atty), or the atty is broke (probably in the coil) or a dud. If it does get hot, have you been using it heavily (several times a day) for a week or two? If so, it's got crud/carbon buildup on the coil. No certain way to fix this (go ahead and search on suggested methods if you want). In that case, try a new atty and see what happens.

Also, the slower you draw, the stronger the hit will be. Manual batteries are best for that because they generally don't have a timeout on the draw.

There are lots of 510 knock-offs out there. They don't provide the same performance/TH as an authentic Joye 510 with it's 2.1Ω atty.
