Ok so this has gotten mention in another thread but Im lookimg for information on adding distilled water in recipes. What are the benefits of using distilled water in your recipe versus just pg and vg? I typically make either 70/30 or 80/20 VG/PG. Would I add distilled water in place of pg or vg? Someone mentioned it will increase vapor production, if so does it have any negative effects? Will I need to make changes to my flavoring %'s? Help ECF!

Purified water doesn't increase vapor production but it's handy for thinning juice that's too thick. It can have an effect on flavor with many tobacco flavored juices adding it as an ingredient. I only vape tobacco flavors so can't comment on what effect, if any, it may have on desert/fruit or candy flavored juice.

I do not agree with the previous post that DW has no effect on vapor production. Perhaps if you used tiny amounts .... I usually add between 2% - 3 1/2 % distilled water to my mixes. The higher you go on VG, the more DW you would use to help with wicking. As an added benefit, DW greatly improves throat hit with VG.

Right now I am vaping 85 VG + 15 DI water. DI water is about the same as distilled water.
I am doing it just to check if PG affects my taste buds. Vape is pleasant, about the same feeling as 60/40 VG/PG.

As I understand it, you can go as much as 20 DW with VG to bring it down to the same viscosity as PG. Some vendors even sell their juice w/20% water 80% VG.

Sorry, I neverused more than 15 %. It's good enough to me. I mean viscosity is good, vicking is good, and I never tried higher water percentages.

Thats just it, Ive never had wicking problems at all. I vape 95% vg commercial juice at times and still never have any wicking problems, so I dont really see myself needing to use DW. Considering I vape 95% vg and still dont have wicking issues I dont believe I'll have much issue with my 80-20 mixes so.I might just avoid DW altogether. Tried it earlier in.one of my successful recipes and I just fee like it dilutes the flavor and it didnt have the same "pop" to the flavors it had before...
