Decided to take the plunge into DIY today. My local B&M has an EZ DIY premix, so I bought 120mL of 9mg premix. I already have some PG and VG here at home, although I don't much use the PG. I only bought a few flavors, figuring they're only $3 for 6mL, so I can go back for more once I get use to mixing. I ended up with Strawberry, Blueberry, Cherry Cola, Bavarian Cream, and Vanilla Cream. I also bought a bottle of sweetener, a couple of syringes, and a few 10mL bottles. I was told that with their DIY premix to use about 12% flavoring to 88% base. I downloaded the ejuice-me-up and have been playing with that a bit, plus the one on Steam Engine. Is there a calculator for the iPhone by chance? Also, does anyone make a straight 'flavor sample?' By that, I mean, using VG and flavor just to see what the flavor is like. Any suggestions? I'm totally open to suggestions.

Well its about Darn time para!
I do think the iPhone has a calculator, but it isn't free.
12% is kinda light. You need to play around with %'s and find what YOU like!
I have not heard of a company selling a "flavor sample". But that's easily made at home!

Good luck and have fun!! oh yeah, buy your self a bottle of DAWN soap for clean up!

I was thinking of making a flavor sample myself. I don't want to waste the Nic base (even though it's not too expensive) and want to see flavor strengths at their 'recommended' values and adjust from there. I'll check the App Store tonight for a calculator

I always mix up flavor samples myself with just VG & PG. I'll then work on a recipe starting low around 10% then move up to as much as 20% based on the potency of the flavors etc. I definitely think that's a good idea for testing purposes. I also use an android app on my phone to keep track of all the recipe variations I'm working on.

Just out of curiosity what B&M did you find your base and flavors at? I'm also in South Central PA and would love to know of a place I can potentially go if I need base or liquids without having to wait on shipping. Well depending on where it is, I'm between York & Harrisburg.

On my "tester" juices I make, I personally still add Nic to them. I figure that with the addition of Nic to the juice it can, and often does, affect the subtleties of the flavors. So making a tester without the Nic, it might not taste the same once the Nic is added. But that's just me! I'm sure there are lots of people who don't bother with adding Nic to their Test batches.
