DIY advice for a beginner

Hey all, Im planning to get into DIY in a few weeks, I plan to order an assortment of flavors and just experiement. I was checking out some flavors and ran across a few that appeal to my (food) tastes and was wondering if anyone has treid these.

I'd love some feedback on these, garlic and bell pepper are others im interested in. Please give me feedback if you have.

Also, any general advice for a noob starting to get into DIY? Beginner mistakes and things i will need that i may not think of? thanks.
