IMO there is no such thing as a 20% rule. Flavors differ in strength from company to company and even within the same company.
Ex: I mix TFA Caramel Capuchino at 1-2 drops per 10ml and have some mixes with up to 20% total flavoring. For me everything is a case by case basis when it comes to flavoring percentages.

Cheers,
Steve

Gonna have to remember this. Well, I did do a mix at 20%. I know, it needs to steep first, but I couldn't resist sampling. At 11W it was kind of menthol taste, at 9W it's not too shabby. I'll let it sit for a week or two and then evaluate. Thank you all for the input!

Whaaat you did 20% FA tobacco?!? jesus.

I totally recommend FA as they are one of the companies that test their aroma the most. That being said, their flavours are extremely concentrated, so whoever said 1% and then go from there is bang on!

The beauty of FA is that you don't need a lot of aroma (which are essentially unknowns in terms of health). So with FA they test and you only use a small %, that's why I picked them.

Headinclouds also said that once you go that low, after a while you will start to pick up on nuances that you won't get when you OD your taste buds, so use less, spend less money, vape less of unknowns that might be unhealthy, and enjoy flavour nuances and perhaps not get vapers tounge.

I started out with Maxx Blend, Virginia, 7 Leaves. Will be getting Desert Ship, Black fire, RY4 and Fresh or Vienna Cream.

Once you have those, start out with half a tank of each and note down the ones she likes, then try and mix those 50/50. So perhaps 0,5% Virginia with 0,5% 7 leaves etc.

I'm also trying to go max VG because I feel like it's a healthier vape than vg/pg.

Op - what type of cigarettes does she smoke now?

I can not imagine FA @ 20%. Never gone over 6%, played with FA for a while in the beginning but as an all tobacco vaper, hangsen is my preferred tobaccos.

Some of my choice FA recipies- at the time I was doing small batches and only drops. 1 drop per mil is ~ 3%
Drops In 5ml -
1vigrinia, 1burley, 1hazelnut,+1vape wiz if you got it.
4Virginia, 2 hazelnut
4burley,2virginia,
4dv,2virginia
In 10 ml
4virginia, 4dark vapor, 4burley, 6 hazelnut(optional)

I don't think I buy that % argument from the health perspective - it probably just means that FA add less diluent (PG).

Completely agree from a value-for-money perspective and regarding the testing though :)

Maybe not, but atleast I know the PG is top notch if I add it myself, so in any case id rather have the product not diluted :)

I tried Royal Tobacco at 2% as per manufacturer's suggestion and it turned out to be too weak for me - 2.7% -3% is more like it. It needs a three week steep. For a real cigarette taste I would go with HeadInClouds suggestion and try MaxxBlend and 7leaves. I have tried 7leaves and it does remind me of a real cigarette.... It's been my ADV for nearly a year. I now have to try Maxx as per his suggestion just in case I get tired of 7L. BTW you can expect a minimum steep time of one month, otherwise you're not going to like it....

This is my rough recipe... drops are those from standard flavoring bottles (not needle tips.) The menthol does not make it like a menthol smoke... its only there to make other flavors pop. Also, the Koolada is adjustable for with or without nic TH.

10 ml:
6 drops Shade FA
6 drops RY4 FA
6 drops Toasted Almond TFA
6 drops Real Cig SC VZ
6 drops Oakwood FA
0.5 ml Pecan LA
8 drops Koolada VZ (decrease if adding nic)
2 or 3 drops Menthol TPA
Vaped 1.8 atty/7watts

Good unsteeped.... better after a week.

Ooops: Also, PG/VG ratios not included as they vary depending on if nic added or not. 50/50 is fine with nic. 80/20 is better without it. TH thing again.

For a real cig flavor I'd probly go with (in a 10 ml batch) 5 drops (~1.5%) 7 leaves and 2 drops (~>.5%) Black Fire to bring out some smoky tones. And then add 2 drops Vape wizard (optional) just to smooth everything out.

Haven't tried this recipe, but if I were making a "true cig" flavor from what I have, that's what I'd use.

I want to thank everyone who answered my questions a few weeks back and tried to send me in the right direction. I think my confusion resulted from the calculator's default screen, which had 20% entered. I listened to what you all said and spent a while reading up on everything. I'm happy to say I finally "get it". Tried a simple single flavor mix (Desert Ship) and mixed just 3%. It's excellent! Don't know why I was so dense about it before, but in any case, just want to thank you folks for showing me the light!
