DIY E-Liquid Confusion

I recently found out about e-cigs after my dad nearly bit his tongue off with Nicotine gum and my cheek was bleeding from excessive, furious chewing. I went on a website and we spent about six hours making a huge order of a bunch of different stuff and long story short, they somehow deleted our entire cart which was a nightmare. The next day we went back and made a smaller order. Nothing came with labels (including 2 bottles of nicotine)! Now we are confused because we got just flavor concentrates to try to make our own and we got some ready to vape liquid. I bought a 10ml bottle of 24 mg pg/vg Newport and a 10ml bottle of Newport flavor concentrate. One bottle is a light yellow (kind of Mountain Dew colored) and the other is an orangey pink. The only label on them to indicate anything is a tiny sticker that says "Newport". I went on the website for the live chat and the woman told me to smell it, but they both smell exactly the same (very mentholated), even though she whole heartedly insists you can smell nicotine - ESPECIALLY if you're a smoker! It is apparently very irritating smelling, but neither of us can smell it!

My dad got their Marlboro blend and is in the same exact predicament I am in (one is a flavor concentrate and one is already mixed). The only difference between the Newport and the Marlboro is that one of his liquids is extremely dark, and the other is very dark. lol - One you can see light pass through and the other you cannot.

She told me that the lighter of the two of the Newports (the yellow one) would be the one that is ready to vape, and it made a little bit of sense at the time, but when I went to smoke it I had no smoke at all and it was so strong my dad was jolted damn near across the couch.

Is there any way we can tell which ones we are able to smoke without mixing?

Needless to say, we don't want to add nicotine to nicotine and go into comas. lol

well the flavoring would be really strong, and the nic would have a bit of a chemical taste I would just put a little drop on my finger and taste it but that's me then I would start ordering my e-juice from somewhere, anywhere else

What vendor did you use??

You should defiantly contact the vendor and talk to them. If they are a good vendor they should help you figure out which is which. If the vendor is not truly helping you enough as a new person (which is what it sounds like) you should re-consider who you are buying from. That all sounds very strange and out of the norm for things not to be labeled. I personally wouldn't use any of it, I would try to return it to the vendor and buy somewhere else.

If there is really no nicotine marking, run away (after asking for a refund on their improperly marked liquids).

Even at 24mg, a strong menthol or tobacco might not have an obvious smell due to nicotine, and it's not your job to play guessing games.

Any reasonable vendor should have clear markings on nic containing liquids. Some will use extra high/high/medium/low, others will use % nicotine others will use mg/ml, but there should be some marking.

Thank you for the replies so far. We ordered from a China supplier and will not order from them again because of this. We found another vendor who looks hopeful, but we are still stuck with what we have for now and it's doubtful they'd take returns (plus, we don't want to return it - we like the juices, it's just a big chore for something that really shouldn't be).

What's scary is we also ordered 1 liter of 18 mg nic, vg+pg and in the box there were two half liter bottles (they did not say half liter, so until we went over the list of what we ordered and pieced it together ourselves, we were lost on what they were entirely)...They had absolutely NO markings! We looked at all of the bottles entirely and there's nothing on any of them in regards to nicotine, vg/pg, or anything else other than a small, translucent sticker that in very tiny writing says the flavor (which on most bottles you can hardly read it due to leakage messing up the letters - my dad used a flash light and it was still very difficult to make some out, not to mention the ones that fell off during shipping, so there's a few flavors we don't know what they are at all). It was also a $500 order.

I went on their website at around noon EST and asked the person on chat if they'd be able to help me with the problem of not knowing which is which with the liquids and they told me to come back in six hours to talk to the people in charge of shipping. So I did. They were the ones that told me to just smell it. Again, there is no discernible smell.

Surprisingly (given the circumstances) they do have really nice vaporizers. I just would never order their liquids again. There was no box, either. They were all just sort of haphazardly tossed into the box (87 bottles!) on top of one another and leaking. We also got carts that are extremely foul tasting, lol. The bubblegum my dad got leaked all into his mouth on his first drag, and he got a dead one too. I got a cart of redbull that is flavorless, I think it might just be pg.

I would not, under any circumstances, use any of that liquid. Endangering your health isn't worth it.

good grief where did you order from? what a rinky dink operation, I buy from china a lot my 2 favorite Chinese vendors are healthcabin and greenhouse one I've never had a experience like that its always well packed and well labeled. sorry you had such a bad experience on your first order.

Consider it a lesson learned the hard way, I'm with Rule62. I'm sorry it was such an expensive order but you are taking a huge risk using it. If they are not properly labeling their nicotine liquid who is to say their regular liquid is not at a dangerous strength? Your lives are more valuable than money. I would seriously re-consider using any of it. There are many more vendors on ECF that properly label their liquids.

That's what I'm saying kabonk!! Who is this vendor???

I believe there are nicotine test kits out there..I searched quickly but only found the ones for testing it on a person..they might work but someone else here might know more about what kit to get to test the levels in your juice. They sell the test kits/strips I saw at Walmart and other stores. Anyways I wouldn't mess around since you don't know what is what...

It definitely wasn't healthcabin or greenhouse - infact, we're about to order from healthcabin. I don't want to mention their name because I don't want to give the company a bad rep. They have wonderful prices and a lot of products are really good (bottles, vaporizers, etc)...and they have my dad's credit card information, lol.

There is an ebay nicotine test kit, $14, sold by mjradik, if you want to see what is actually in those 500ml bottles. It would also likely be fine to see which bottles of your eliquid have the nicotine. vs which are just flavorings.

If your pv have atomizers, you could test vape just a couple drops of each of the two bottles of menthol, the one that is crazy strong will just be the flavoring. If you have any other eliquid to use for now, I'd just go the nicotine test kit route.

I'll assume based on your description that you ordered from ........... That is how they ship to get past customs being your shipment would get seized otherwise. They have poor quality control and poor customer service. The cartos are junk. I ordered from them way back i they days when I didnt know better. Yes, they have cheap prices...BUT the shipping is $20+ and have to get through customs.

My advice is to go through a USA vendor if thats where you are located. No customs, CHEAP if not free shipping (based on order amount) someone "local" to talk to that has a good reputation. I would recommend you try Smokeless Image for KR808 style, and One Stop DIY shop to get started. There are many more EXCELLENT vendors in the USA that you can read about on ECF and I suggest you get to reading. Had you have done that prior to ordering what you did...you would have realized that vendor was a poor choice. Get yourself a Nic test kit because pure Nic can be deadly as it is poison in high concentration, even if some got on your skin. Be safe, read, research and have fun vaping!

EDIT: I forgot, that vendor is banned from ECF, thats because of situations like yours happening over and over...they are not safe.

I would only order in future from ECF approved vendors and only from ones in the US. You can depend on them for quality and customer service.

Yikes. That's a huge bummer that your order was so screwed up. Personally, I would write it off as a loss and toss all the liquids if they won't refund your money. Really sucks to throw away money like that, but it's so not worth risking your health.

Please know that you were screwed, and that your health could potentially be in danger. Get a disposable, pay for the fastest shipping you can -- just don't use that juice.

After I posted this thread my dad had the idea of burning some of the Newport liquid on a piece of tin foil and another piece of foil for the second Newport. With that test we determined the smoke level on the darker (orange looking) Newport had to be the ready to vape one. We had mixed results with the Marlboro. We decided to taste the Marlboro ones and the darker of the two had a rich flavor and the lighter had an almost non existent one. We went into the kitchen, turned the stove onto high for a few seconds (enough to get it warm), dripped a drop of each liquid and watched to see which one produced a heavier smoke (we ordered vg+pg mix), and the lighter of the two Marlboro's had the heavier smoke, plus with the lighter flavor, we decided that the lighter of the two had to be the one that is ready to vape.

Just posting this incase someone else runs into a similar problem; it seemed to solve the mystery for us...or so we assume.

We are both very new to this, so if someone could please offer us input on if this is not an accurate test method, or if we nailed it, please let us know!
