Five Pawns e-liquid runs almost $1 per ml...yikes! I DIY all my juice, and I enjoy doing it, but I imagine there are many people who do not treat vaping as a hobby, and also do not want to take on the task of DIY.

I like a wide variety of flavors/recipes, and as a result I have roughly 115 flavor concentrates on hand. For those who also like complex and various flavors, I'm sure many do not want to invest the time and money in trying (trying is the key word) to make their own. Just like anything, those who do not DIY are paying a bit extra for the convenience of having it already mixed for them.

Im not paying anymore other than supplies hehe.. Just dropped short of $50 about an hour ago and finally bought myself enough stuff to last about 4-5 months if my calulations were correct (and I can successfully drop to the nic level I want) along with my lab supplies..
Luckily Killer Juice, who make my ADVs, also sells the flavoring for all my faves so I can still throw some support to the vendor who helped me get where I am now!

Another angle is that it's probably a good thing everyone doesn't DIY. I'm just starting to make my own juice, and safety with the nicotine is very important. Not everyone would take the necessary precautions, and that would probably lead to folks getting hurt.

The last thing the vaping community needs are boneheads being dumb and giving the FDA, et al. more ammunition to over-regulate. I'm not saying everyone couldn't make their own, I'm just saying there are some pretty oblivious people out there who wouldn't be safe about it.

It makes me think of that saying - an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Look at it this way. If you DIY you have to store all the components - will they go bad on you, will you make a mistake, will you be able to come up with an eliquid that is vapeable.

Also consider this - If everyone cooked at home - there would be no need for restaurants, fast food and all of there associated logistic / financial support systems.

So while some ejuice vendors do seemingly have a high markup - you would hope that a lot of this is due to process / lab costs that you could not easily duplicate at home.

I DIY, but I also have a sterile stainless steel work area and I sterilize everything before and after mixing and I have a dedicated storage area. Most people do not want that hassle, but for me - I accept it and do it - not only save money, but for sure I do save a lot, but I also know what goes into my juice...

I dove right into DIY when I first started vaping. Did that for quite a while, but haven't mixed any juice in close to two years now. Why? convenience and the lack of time to properly try out and tweak new recipes. Many of the flavorings I was using at the time either got harder to get or disappeared altogether, so I'd have to start from scratch all over again at finding suitable replacements

I liked a lot of my DIY juices, but if I can get something as good with less hassle then that option fits into my busy schedule much better :2c:

To be honest I find DIY to be a pain in the ..... I have to clean an area of the kitchen, get all my measuring gear out, figure out the math, mix everything up, wash everything, have it sitting around for a day or two to dry, put it all away in a safe place, and cross my fingers that the juice is going to turn out at least okay. When I get around to going through that I actually like doing DIY, but when I want a vape I just want a vape so most of my stuff I just bought off someone who knows what they are doing.

I got started for about $70.
And I got lucky, in that RIGHT AWAY, I liked some of my own flavors...
Now, I like 'em a LOT, and all my store-bought stuff is on nearly permanent steep. I'll probably vape some of it, but I haven't bought any in quite a while, and don't think I will, when I know I can make stuff I really really enjoy day after day, and the cost is....ready?....something like $0.05/ml.

another thing to consider is even though ppl may spend $20 to $40 a week on designer joose the $500 amount i came up with to get started is out of some ppls reach.

I have been thinking about DIY eLiquids. You mentioned that they go bad, what kind of a time frame are we talking about? Thanks

I find waiting for my vape mail (mostly different juices) is way too exciting for me. It's like Christmas over and over again. Also I can't seem to ever stick to one flavor for very long I love to switch it up, just don't think I could handle creating all the different crazy flavor combos I find online, would end up spending too much on materials to make a single batch of juice.

Way back before the internet when I smoked pipes I tried many blends and settled on Sullivan Powell's Gentleman's Mixture (eeek I just did a search and found peeps are paying 125 to 300 bux for 50 grams now Dating Sullivan Powell's Gentleman's.Mixture - Neill's Blog - For smoking pipe and vintage tobacco collectors ) Eventually I had tobacco custom blended and to my taste is was a bit better.

Seems I am doing the same with juice. Just blending pre-flavored juices and PG and VG 10 to 30 mls at a time. I`m really looking forward to getting into custom juice blended by me for me.

I tried making my own liquid a couple times and I really enjoyed it but I also got a Zamplebox subscription and I've been loving the flavors they send me and haven't made my own in a while. Plus I'm out of PG anyways. For me right now with working all the time it's just more convenient for me to buy liquid, especially really good flavors like Space Jam, Nebula, and Victory Liquid. With Zamplebox juice is about $.30/ml or less.

As a n00b to this I personally don't want to mess it up. The price of pre-mixed juice compared to tobacco, especially in places like MA or NY, is extremely inexpensive. A pack of smokes in MA is close to $9 and in NYC they are $13.

LOL! A little more than a month later and I've completely changed my mind on this. I make all my own juice now.
