water works good to thin VG but 20% holy crap you could be just overloading yourself the highest i go is around 5 but have a couple of flavors that i kick up to 10% and after a day or so i have the same problem and have to stop vaping that flavor for a few days and it resets.......

edit below......
i would go straight VG as well when i use PG it has a bitter nasty taste at the end when i am blowing it out and can taste it for a hour or so afterwards.....just a idea

I'm still pretty new to DIY (about 3 months in) but have my own byrd brained take on mixing and what might be causing your problem. I'll give you my byrd brained logic that come from basic math and using a calculator and ejuice me up to check the results. Here's my :2c:

If I wanted to mix 5ml of 18mg 50PG/50Vg e-liquid, with 12% flavorings in PG, using 100mg nic in PG I would do this:

Into a 5ml bottle I would measure:
.18 X 5=.9 .9ml of uncut 100ml nic in PG
(20% of 5 is 1 so 1ml would =20% nic so .9ml sounds right)
.12 X 5=.6 so I would add .6ml of flavoring(s) I based this on 7% flav1, 3% flav2, and 2% flav 3
(1ml=20 drops so .6 X 20 =12)
Now I have a total of 1.5ml of nic and flavoring(s) both in PG.
I'd carefully syring in 1 ml more of PG; Now I'd have 2.5ml of PG based mix.
Add 2.5ml of VG and I'm done!

I think when you cut your 100mg nic with PG and then enter it into an e-liquid calculator that it is throwing off the ratio and that you are actually getting a much higher % of VG than you think you are.

I entered this info into my e-juice me up calculator and the results matched.

What do you more experiended DIYer's think?

I also am using a 100% VG because I don't like the taste of PG. It is thick! But I have a bottom feeder reo mod, and it's working. I would think about thinning it abit though, because I am getting VG liquid all over everything, inc my keyboard. I've heard you can thin with alcohol, such as vodka or rum. Has anyone had experience with that?

What can I say, I'm a slob :)

Me too, Rocketman :p I tried some distilled water after I posted, and I really liked the effect! I also checked out the nicotine base over at Wizard labs, and it is so much cheaper than the bottle I bought at Wicked Vapors!! Is there a difference in quality? I know a sticky referred to one vendor selling nicotine with wildly varying amounts of nicotine all bottled under, '100 mg'.

But if Wl is basically the same stuff that WV sells, why should I pay more than twice the amount? Is there a best nicotine base?

If there was a best anything no one would buy anything else.

Try a smallish bottle from WL. Make your own opinion.
That wild NIC from another vendor is all gone and they fixed their game anyway.

There's that Quality word again :)
As far as Quality, we the DIYer often use clarity, smell, and taste (after diluting please) as our quality control parameters.
The more ana* retentive of us might test Nic strength, density, thickness, but there is probably more to 'Quality' than even those parameters. We can't test for those properties, just have to trust the vendor to do right by us.

Those of you that want to shop around for nic, try a small bottle from a few different suppliers. Try a couple different sources for PG and VG. I don't know about the rest of you, but for me, there is a lot of wiggle room dollar wise to do some experimenting before you get anywhere close to what you were spending on tobacco products.

Unless of course you set out on a quest to sample every flavor there is :)

I found a mixing tutorial that I sort of like, do a Google for "DIY e-juice mixing tutorial".
Pick one sort of high on the page :)

Hey Rocketman, I picked the very top one : )

Geez, that's a lot of juice!! I take my 3 or 4 ml bottle out of my mini reo, get out an eyedropper... unable to commit, I guess :D

I'm thinking of just getting 36 mg vg base, since I like the taste of pure vg, then using the flavoring agent as the thinner. Right now I am vaping plain vg/nic. It's definitely vapable, but kind of boring... I have a 72mg nic base bottle now, but adding the VG is a pain. I could spend a little more money and have it done for me.

(Yeah, I vape a strong brew- keeps me off of the Dunhills)

Do you have a favorite or two flavor recipe? Not tobacco : )
