DIY Failure

I'm very new to the whole vaping thing. Used to be a long time smoker of clove cigar/cigarettes. I just can't find any vapes close to those sampoerna cigarettes I loved so much...before they took clove cigarettes off the market. So I thought I'd try some DIY...I've tried 2 different tobacco flavors (black honey & dark vapure) and both have failed me. First I can't even taste at 12% second tastes like dirty ashtray...And the clove doesn't leave that taste of real clove on the lips, more sweet like vanilla. I'm gonna keep trying. Got ry4 in the mail, and will give it a go. But even if I find a tobacco flavor that works the clove doesn't...Am I doomed to never having a decent clove again???

I'm using POTVeJuiceCalc. Steeping is my weakness;) I'm not a patient person...been using warm water and my front pocket. lol. I plan on trying them again after a week or so. I've been using the clove at 6%. Going for a good tabacoo flavor and then gonna play with the clove more. To be honest, now that I've started vaping the analogs taste like burning sticks...so I can't really complain, just miss that nice clove taste. If you're familiar with the djarum specials you know.

When you DIY, failure is often your best teacher. I have never vaped nor made juice with tobacco flavoring but I seem to remember many suggesting starting at a low percentage in order to avoid the dirty ashtray taste. And cloves are so powerful, suspect that too should be started at a low percentage and added as you sample. Make it in small batches, 3 to 5 ml. Shake, let steep, repeat day by day or even every 2 days. Some I've made are great after 2 or 3 days, some are over a month old and still awful. (Most likely I will never like them) :)

Lurch, I have a feeling after vaping awhile tobacoo flavor will fall by the wayside. But I'm new. Just off analogs and not at that transition just yet. I hate steeping;) Actually joined this forum and posting here so I can get my 5 posts in and comment on a thread here involving steeping with warm water. Get those molecules bouncing around and interacting. Brownian style;) From what I gather high heat and light will deteriorate nicotine, so have to keep it controlled.

From what I have read over on the DIY Forum, I have never seen FA Dark Vapure used at over 1%.

If you have not been over to the DIY Forum I highly recommend doing so. Read the "stickies" as there are posts for beginning % based on the flavoring company you are using. And there are lots, and lots of recipes posted throughout.

I'm not into tobacco vapes so I have not saved any tobacco recipes, but I have saves 100's of others!

Thanks Susan. I've browsed the DIY forum some looking for a good tobacco flavor. I agree, the dark vapure needs to be reduced. And I need a tabacoo flavor I like to add just a hint of it to. Just haven't found it yet. An authentic clove is what I need. Eventually I hope I'll find an authentic tobacco flavor. What would happen if I ground up real cloves and steeped them in some pg...hmmm, there's a thought....

Have you looked at - TFA Pumpkin Spice? I've heard it is mostly clove, but has some cinnamon and maybe nutmeg.

I make a Kretek flavor to die for. Go to Vapers Tek. Grab the nic, Inawera Clove , Inawera Vanilla (Wanilia) and Wera Garden Tobacco Absolute Garuda.

Clove 6 drops
Garuda 10 drops
Vanilla 2 drops

Smoky and mouth numbing madness with a nice soft finish.

Jimi, is that per 10ml?
