Hi,

I was hoping someone would be able to help.

I having some problems with my first batch of homemade juice. I am using premixed pharmaceutical grade 80 VG, 20 PG and 3ml nicotine from juice cabin. I bought these concentrates from flavourart; Mango, grape concord, grape white, apple fugi, bongo juice and bilberry. I am also using vape wizard.

I mixed 25ml testers. 24ml of PG/VG and 1ml (4%) of each concentrate. They have been left in dark cupboard for 4 days. However, spoke to a guy at flavourart who said that fruit flavours don't need steeping.

The problem I am having is that they taste of nothing. I have had a look online and I am hearing quite a bit of conflicting information some saying you only need 2%, any more will kill it. Some are saying to put at least 10%. I was hoping that anyone wth experience of flavours above could advise.

I was thinking of literally starting with 1% of flavour concentrate and increasing as per taste. Would I need to increase PG/VG as well? Seems to me that through trying it and I will have no idea how much ML is in there.

I am using clieto 120 on the smok alien.

Any other starter advice you could give would be great. Thanks for your help in advance.

Happy vaping

I'll bump this thread in hopes that FA fruit flavor DIY'ers will chime in. I vape FA tobacco flavors and those are usually in the 1% to 2% range. Much higher and they are far too strong.

You might look at this list for reference. FA Mango is 10% +/- in the list.

Hi and welcome Kelly-am.

Over flavoring can definitely cause the flavor to be muted. Whether that's the case here, I don't know. I do know that FA is much more concentrated than some of the other manufacturers.

Try diluting a little of what you have mixed and see if that helps. I'd start with a 1/4 tank of unflavored and add a little of your mix to it. Vape a little and add more if needed. If that doesn't work, I'd start with a 1/2 tank of one of the mixes and add the concentrate (a drop or 2 at a time) to that.

As was mentioned, everyone tastes thing differently.

What did you vape before trying DIY?

The first thing I'd recommend is to mix without MTS Vape Wizard. It will change your taste perception. How much were you using?

The fruits you are using are stronger than most FA flavorings. You should try the Fuji at 3%, and all the others at 2%...except Bongo Juice, about which I have no idea. It appears to be a Hawaiian Punch type mixture, and it could possibly go stronger than most (say 4-5%), but I honestly don't know.

I have the Fuji at about 2% (20 drops in 24 ml) with about 1.5% sweetener. I don't care for it much -- it seems mostly realistic to an apple I don't like -- but no problem tasting it.

This seems to come up over and over. It may be you were using very strong flavored juices, or ones very specifically chosen to suit your tastes and equipment. Now you've released chaos and it could take a while to sort it out. But frankly you should be able to taste these too, if your equipment and/or technique is not sufficient now then it wasn't really before either. That said, I don't use many of old favorites anymore except in the devices I originally chose them for, because that magical pairing of juice and gear doesn't transfer to different equipment... anyway do try a bit more flavoring, just keep it reasonable, if it isn't working try another flavor, if that doesn't work do consider your devices (as you may independently already).

Failed to mention on my first post that I would not use vape wizard. My one and only time that I did use it, it wiped out all flavor from my mix. I may have used too much,I don't know, but I then had to start all over and do the flavors again.

To me that would be the only way to possibly save the nic, pg and vg. I just flat out do not recommend it for any reason.
I also suggest you visit the flavourart website where they give descriptions of their flavors and possible usage ranges.

    :)

Hi and welcome! From my experience I realize that everyone has different taste for flavours. I used to use FA flavours and love them. They are strong enought and taste is near to real. All tobacco's make on 2% ....only Desert Ship and Cuban Supreme on 1%. My fruits make on 2-3% for standalone use and 3-4% for mixing. For example I mix Virginia 2% with Black Cherry 3%, Max Blend 2% with Coconut 3% . Try on little batches of DIY to save your nico and concentrate flavours...and your pleasure of vaping of course.

From my personal notes regarding these as single flavor mixes...
    FA Fuji - 3%
    FA Concord Grape 3%
    FA Mango 6%
    FA Billberry 1%

I don't have Bongo, and haven't tested White Grape.

    My suggestions...
Make 10-15 ml test batches instead of 25. More efficient, less potential waste.
    Don't use Vape Wizard.
Try a lower VG ratio, like 60/40.
Assuming your current testers don't have Vape Wizard added, go ahead and increase amounts a percent at a time till you get where you want to be.

FYI this is what Vape Wizard does. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to link to the excellent thread on another vaping forum where I got this information.

"Triacetin- Sold as aaa magic mask by fa, and is a main ingredient of mts vape
wizard by fa, smooth by tpa, and flavor toner/enhancer by fw. This stuff is used
in many processed foods and in cigarette filters to smooth out harsh notes. It
does this by temporarily numbing certain taste receptors in your tongue. This is
the reason you can stomach breakfast cereals, microwave meals, and all the added
paper and other trash they put in commercial cigarettes. Likewise, it can make
some ejuices tolerable, maybe even tasty, that without it would be abominable.
This stuff is actually amazing. If you really suck at diy, and your juice tastes
like an abortion, you need this stuff; it can save even some of the worst tasting
mixes. SIDENOTE: Triacetin is also the most amazing coil cleaner! It actually does
for cotton what conditioner does for hair; vg slowly clogs wicks, and pg makes the
fibers brittle, but aaa unclogs wicks and plasticizes fibers, leaving them
    flexible once more."

I'd agree with the 10ml bottles too. I start all my recipes off of 10ml of base. +1% of 10ml = .1ml +10% = 1ml. The math makes it easier to dial in the recipe. Another thing I do is when I get a new flavor, I always just mix it on it's own until I find where I like it. Then that becomes the baseline for that flavor when mixing it with other flavors.

It's just like cooking, you cant cook with ingredients before you know how they taste on their own
