I bought about 15 flavors from Nature's Flavors 'Organic Flavor for Coffe/Tea' line, and don't like the burnt taste from the ethyl alcohol despite it being a preferred throat hit addative for some.

Some NF's lines have Gum Acacia instead of alcohol, but I read it can cause asthma if vaped.

Some of NF's lines don't seem to say what ingredients they're made of. I think it depends on which flavor it is. Example: vanilla might just be vanilla beans and water aged, but watermellon from the same line might be immitation organic plant-derived flavor in ethyl alcohol. However, the vanilla + water might then be steam distilled in organic gum or starch to make it water soluble.

So, I'm going to call/email them and see if any of their lines are alcohol and Gum Acacia-free (and anything else I shouldn't vape). If needed, I'll ask if they can custom make me something.

Just in case NF doesn't work out, and to have something to compare it to if it does, I'm looking for flavors that are:

No alcohol or Gum Acacia or anything else I shouldn't vape.
No synthetic ingredients, All natural, vegan, plant-derived ingredients. Hopefully organic.
Wide variety of flavors
Good price and doesn't need too much % in the mix so it lasts (no more than like %15, but prefer %10 or lower if possible).

Non-DIY extractions eventhough they're a decent solution to this.

Thanks.

I just called NF and asked if they could custom make flavors without alcohol or Gum Acacia. They said it's a minimum of $500 for research and development with their chemist to make anything besides what they have listed - that's if what I'm asking is even do-able.

I said that the products I'm askign for already exist (just flavor and VG) but then they steam distill it in alcohol to make it water soluble which is what their website says, but for liability (eventhough we're misusing the products by vaping them) or whatever reasons, they still won't send out anything that they don't have listed without research and development first.

I was told that the only things at all from NF that are made from the actual flavor in the title(watermellon/apple/almond/etc) are the essential oils line (under Scents) and a vanilla line (not sure which category). Everything else is still plant-derived, but just immitation. Anything that says 'flavor for' before it is immitation.

I found a bunch of threads about vaping essential oil, so I'll look into that to make sure it's safe. I read wintergreen might cause asthma. The essential oils from NF I'm almost certain are %100 essential oil with no alcohol/gum/startch etc added.

NF doesn't have much or a selection of organic essential oils compared to their non-organic, but I'm sure I can find %100 pure essential oil organics elsewhere. A lot of these oils come from the rinds which soak up the most pestecides etc which might end up in the essential oil. Plus, organic is better for the environment and more cruelty-free compared to the pestecides and fertelizers of non-organics.

I'm not going to persue the $500 R&D for custom NF flavors if they're even do-able, and am still looking for a solution(s) besides essential oils (especially if it turns out I can't vape any of them).

Thanks.

You may want to read this with particular attention to this paragraph

He also says, “Artificial flavorings are simpler in composition and potentially safer because only safety-tested components are utilized. Another difference between natural and artificial flavorings is cost. The search for "natural" sources of chemicals often requires that a manufacturer go to great lengths to obtain a given chemical…. Furthermore, the process is costly. This pure natural chemical is identical to the version made in an organic chemist’s laboratory, yet it is much more expensive than the synthetic alternative. Consumers pay a lot for natural flavorings. But these are in fact no better in quality, nor are they safer, than their cost-effective artificial counterparts.”

Natural Vs. Artificial Flavors

Good luck!

"only safety-tested components are utilized" ^

Not to say that highly-processed, plant-derived vegan substances aren't testesd on animals, but it seems more likely that synthetic ones are.

I still have to read the vaping essential oils threads. If it doesn't work out, and If no one can reply with a flavor source solution here, I guess I'll vape the nasty NF ethyl alcohol flavors for now, and mayeb plain VG or cinnamon, coffee, and other common DIY extraction flavs.
ECBlend's %100 VG All Natural & Organic line taste good without the alcohol, so the flavors exist somewhere (unless they paid NF $500 min for R&D to make custom flavors, but I doubt that).

Vaping Zone super concentrates are less than 3% using alcohol as a carrier. That is low enough to evaporate off by leaving the cap off for 24-48 hours. The problem with alchohol is vaping it at 20%.

It appears that vanilla can also be 'extracted' using water and VG. There's a few other flavors that are water soluable if you want to make them yourself.
