I have used prescription bottles for mixing and it's been fine but I always check what the plastic is made of first (there will be a number on the bottom.) The plastic type is just fine, almost 100% of the time.

Not sure I'd use more than once but I find them extremely handy and have been using them for some time.

I am fairly certain I may be the ONLY DIY I know doing this but they're pretty picky about what pills are stored in. I like the wide mouth, the easy close, all that. I just have a dropper bottle that I have VG in to wash off the dropper between eliquids.

Hope this helps.

I mean, I don't think there'd be a problem with storing pg/vg in them
however storing juice...no.... some flavors are known to eat through plastic

Polypropylene plastic should be fine. Polycarbonate plastic...not safe for all flavors.

Something Safe for Cinnamon & Citrus Flavors

Polycarbonate is generally clear. Polypropylene is generally frosted, cloudy, or opaque in appearance.

I like Boston Rounds (glass bottles), especially since I mix 50ml batches of each of my repeat flavors. If you are filling tanks with a syringe around the house, then glass would be the ultimate bottle.

LDPE bottles with thin tips are handy for filling a tank and carrying juice around when you are on the go. Either is fine.

I use syringes with my 60ml Boston Rounds (glass) when I fill at home. On the go, I use LDPE.

Any problems storing "juice" or VG/PG or nic solution in prescription bottles? #5 Polypropylene.

#5 (PP) plastic bottles are fine for storing plain VG, PG, and finished eliquid. So are the LDPE and HDPE plastic bottles. However, depending on what you mean by "nic solution" above...glass would likely be best for it. If you're talking about "nicotine base", that you use to combine with the plain VG, plain PG, and flavorings to make your eliquid...most who DIY agree that it's best for it to be in a glass container.

Thanks for replies. I do use cinnamon as one of my flavors. Will have to look into those Boston rounds, been trying to find some glass that has opening I like. Most probably know this already but the "safe" plastics are supposed to be #2, #4 and #5. Many of the plastic DIY bottles I see are #4, probably because it is so flexible.

Safe Plastic Numbers (Guide)

I do store my 100mg/ml nic solution in glass. Will probably use the prescription bottles for VG, maybe mixed juice, easy to syringe out.

Just FYI, decided to check my liquids that were purchased in plastic bottles. 100ml of cinnamon flavored premixed ejuice, came from the company who sold it in #1 PET. Also 4oz TFA cinnamon flavor purchased from online vape shop, also in #1 PET (not purchased direct from TFA, guess the shop buys in bulk and repackages.) A bit concerning, especially with cinnamon. I switched one to glass, the other to one of those #5 prescription bottles. However no way to know how long they were in those #1 bottles before I purchased them. Have some older liquids (flavors/juices) in plastic (the bottles they came in), those not even marked. Am going to toss those.

How I use plastics... for one time usage, PET; for reusable usage HDPE or LDPE. My nic free premixed DIY liquids and premixed DIY One Shots storage have always been in amber glass. I also transfer DIY supplies that came in plastic that will be long term storage to glass. Other than the 30ml/60ml desktop bottles used for refilling squonk bottles/tanks, dripping/etc, all of my DIY supplies are kept in cold storage. YMMV

#1 (PET and/or PETE) bottles are fine for 1-time use. You just don't want to reuse those bottles once you've used up the original contents that came in them. Many flavoring manufacturers and rebottlers use #1 bottles. They're less expensive than the #2, #4, or #5.

I will say though, that it's sort of unusual for a vendor to sell finished eliquids in them, from my experience. Most usually use the PP or LDPE for that, mainly because they're easier to squeeze and dispense the eliquid. Those 2 are also a thicker plastic though, which is better, since they'll be repeatedly squeezed until empty.

Have some older liquids (flavors/juices) in plastic (the bottles they came in), those not even marked. Am going to toss those.

I wouldn't toss them just because the bottles aren't marked. I would though, if the liquid itself has gone "wonky" because of extended age, which some will do. Even if they're #1 bottles, as long as the contents were originally in those bottles, the bottles themselves haven't harmed what's inside them.
