Calling all SA Vaperz,

I have met a few peeps that have successfully made e-liquid in SA ... soon after they perfect their juice they start selling it for a profit !!!

Hopefully this will change ... Share some secrets with us so we can all benefit - TIA !

- What type of flavour suppliers should we approach ? Confectionary, cake, baking, beverage, alcohol ... with so many different flavour suppliers which one do we choose ?

- What questions to ask a flavour supplier to make sure we get the good stuff ?(beverage, emulsion, concentrated, extracts, soluble, tartrazine, OIL ???)

- Share your good SA LOCAL flavour suppliers ?

- Share your Hard-to-find SA LOCAL flavour suppliers ? Have you found these: tobacco, red-bull etc ???

- Reputable SA LOCAL USP PG / VG supplier ?

- Lastly ... SA LOCAL supplier of nicotine ? Is there such a thing ? Is it even legal to buy/produce in SA ?

I hope we get some useful info out of this !!!

When responding please let us know what province you live in so we can start collecting local suppliers from each province. I live in Western Cape so if someone from there would like to share first ... PLEASE DO !!!

If this thread goes well we all score !!! Well ... except the guy trying to make a fast buck off of us !!!

The VG is on the shelf - it's got the green and yellow Dischem label. It's labelled as 'Glycerine'. Trust me - it's 100% VG BP. The PG you have to ask for at the dispensary part. They have it there. Don't ask for PG though, ask for Propylene Glycol. If they've got it in my little dorp, they'll definitely have it your side.
VG is R26 for 200ml. PG is R20 for 100ml.

Caramel butter with Vanilla Cream is my go to flavour.
OK guys, first recipe!!!

This makes 30(ish)ml 50/50 9mg. Adjust the amount of PG 36mg to straight PG to achieve desired nic content of final mix.
15ml VG
7.5ml PG 36mg
7.5ml PG
32 drops Caramel Butter
32 drops Vanilla Cream

Delicious!

So many wanting to start. No one actually starting....
Placing my order at HC next week, will take my chances with the officials. Cant wait to try that caramel butter:vapor:

Yellow ... pretty new to this & have some questions :

Is the homemade stuff with the PG / VG, NC and flavours as "pure" as it gets? Are there different grades/standards of these different components or basically one standard that everyone is using? One of my main incentives for vaping is that, although it's not proven, and who knows... we might all grow extra ears or something, I believe it to be a healthier alternative to smoking. I read that in certain e-liquid trials they found weird dodgy trace chemicals, which I'd like to avoid if possible....

Where does one order the NC and the flavours from? As per my previous questions, are there suppliers that are "more reputable"?

Maybe some folks would be interested in ordering a batch of stuff and splitting it a few ways?

:)

hi Daniel (not),

The findings of weird and wonderful substances in vape juice all had us scared for a few seconds ... only to realise this was done off of a no-name Chinese supplier.

If you stick to the reputable suppliers as listed on ECF forum you will be just fine !!!

If making your own juice stick to the guidelines and once again ... you will be fine !!!

My own 2c. Get USP PG/VG. Don't work with 50+mg nicotine. Get water soluble flavours from Lorann or locally (ask for sweets/candy flavouring - this works best due to its high temperature tolerance).

If you are from SA visit this thread in a few weeks - hopefully we will have all local reputable suppliers listed here.

Happy vaping !!!

The over hyped ANTI FREEZE !!!

... "myth was created by a 2009 FDA press statement regarding electronic cigarettes. The FDA tested 18 cartridges from 2 companies. Of those 18 cartridges, 1 tested positive for a non-toxic amount of diethylene glycol (approximately 1%). While diethylene glycol is occasionally used in anti-freeze, the chemical is not a standard ingredient in e-cigarette liquid and it has not been found in any other samples tested to date."

Thanks dragonbone :) Do you mix your own?
Hi Notdaniel,

I used to make my own horrible concoctions for about 2 years. However, I kept on going back to smoking, as it wasn't doing much for my addiction. When I finally quit for the last time, I gotten hold of some American ejuice, and never smoked or craved a cigarette since.

I do 'cut' and extend my ejuices quite a bit though. For eg. I buy 36 mg USA 'gourmet' ejuice (or 24mg Chinese ejuice from Health Cabin) and cut with some plain Chinese 24mg nic, some VG a little PG and then add a bit of flavoring and sweetener to boost up the taste again. A WHOLE lot easier than trying to build flavor from scratch. Well, for me anyway. Plenty of other more creative people DIY very successfully, so don't take my word for it. Just recounting my personal experiences :).

Do you DIY?

Nope, at the moment all I do is vape and manage not to smoke cigarettes so.far... but I only started this 3 days back :D. My main inspiration, like I mentioned earlier, is health, but second to that, the less money I'm throwing away the better, plus the idea of getting all Dexter-science-lab(not serial killer!) seems quite appealing to me. But I have no chemistry background whatsoever, other than having done and failed it in high school :/ ..... I saved the link you posted for weekend reading, I'll set aside some time to read it thoroughly and see if the work required seems doable.

Excuse ignorance but what's gourmet e-juice? Can you buy it in SA ?

Oops sorry, I didn't see your reply.

I just call them gourmet juices because they are expensive and hand made in small mom&pop type companies as apposed to giant Chinese factory size companies like Dekang and Hangsen.

You can order from the US. Just say, if you need a list of places I've tried that ships international. Maybe someone else can chime in too?

I've ordered some "gourmet" juices from HHV (Heather's Heavenly Vapes) beginning of the month, but still waiting on delivery. Like Dragonbone, ordered 36mg (same price as lower nic) to extend and cut if necessary. HHV marks their packages customs friendly. But, have also ordered some Hangsen, Flavour Art and Flavour Apprentice flavours from RTSvapes (and I blame Daniel for this:)) to try DIY. All this to try and find that elusive ADV (All Day Vape)!

Yep, that elusive ADV... sigh... Well actually I did find it after years and many, many dozens of unused ejuices and many, many more dozens of flavorings. Unfortunately just after I found my ALV, the company decided not to ship internationally anymore, without ANY notice whatsoever. One day I just couldn't check out. Bummer! I still had my account and could check in but not check out. Something like the Hotel California hehe.

Fortunately I have a buddy in the US who buys and ships for me, and then I just reimburse her, but I think there is a limit to how many times one can ask favors from friends... Especially if they are no vapers themselves. One time she made a mistake order for 6 X 30ml bottles. AGHHH!!! I was down to my last 2 ml. I tore open my parcel in glee and almost cried when it was Candy Cane and NOT Cotton Candy. I just sucked it up. What else could I do.

Talking of which.... I have to find a NEW ADV ASABP!!! (As soon as bloody possible)
